How are crowds?
How early should we plan to arrive on a Saturday or Sunday?

Before they open. That time has recently changed several times. They were requiring reservations, but not sure if that is still going on. Weekends are more busy, weekdays are better. Also nice days bring out more people. So, no set answer.

Just drove by today around noon and there was a sign that said nobody is admitted unless they have a ticket. So, it appears you need to buy a ticket or make a reservation in advance. Not sure how to do that, but it is probably on their website. Today was a beautiful day in the islands and that might have caused them to fill up. But, I think you should buy in advance and keep your fingers crossed for a nice day.
