We have reservations beginning Feb 28 at Westin Mission Hills. We just received notice the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is closed indefinitely due to storms this past week that washed out the road. We had tickets for the tramway and a reservation at Peaks Restaurant.

Is anyone aware of other damages either at the resort or in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area?

Thanks.

Arrived via PSP at WMH on Wednesday evening to escape the Seattle snow storm and was welcomed by a deluge. Poured non-stop all of Thursday. There are road closures throughout the valley, but WMH itself and the hotel did not sustain any damages. Pools and golf course are open. Been sunny and partly cloudy since Friday. We're flying out of ONT tomorrow, so checking what route would be best to take us to the airport.

Hopefully most roads will reopen by your arrival. Might be helpful to check http://www.palmspringsca.gov/city-services/street-closure-detour-information-planned-power-outages

You can also look at Google maps for the area (make sure you have it show traffic). The map will identify any closed roads. Right now, road closures in the valley are limited to the north end (Hwy 111 and N. Indian Canyon from I-10 into PSP). Barring any more major storms, they will most likely reopen by the time you get here.

I'm nearby at Westin Desert Willow and the resort and golf course here are also open. Although we also got deluged in San Diego on Thursday, the roads between SAN and Palm Desert were open when we drove over yesterday.

Sorry to hear about the rain damage. My son tells me that the recent heavy rains and snow in CA are from the same low pressure system that struck Kauai and the rest of the islands last week.
I hope that some of that rain descended on Joshua Tree!

Controller1: we were at Marriott Palm Desert during the rains. Some of the N-S roads that have low washes (like Cook south of Fred Waring and Fred Waring close to 111) were temporarily closed. But the next day I drove Cook and it was open.

I heard that the problem with the tram was some of the road leading to the parking lot washed away. I don't think that there was any issue with the tram itself (my opinion). Keep watching to see when they re-open it.

But there is so many other things to do in Palm Desert. There are zillions of great restaurants. Also a lot of good hikes.

Was there snowfall at the top of the tram? It was very dry up there last April.
We also enjoy the Living Desert and the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Yes. I can see the mountain from my balcony, and it's beautiful. The top of the mountain has about 2 feet or more on the ground, with another 1-2 feet expected tonight.

Thanks everybody for all the information. I'll be there in a little over a week! I wonder if Joshua Tree will look green, rather than dry!

Big Bear ski resort has had more than 9 feet of snow just in February. Tonight the snow level is down to 2000 feet. The local mountains are covered.

If they received enough rain, it will respond immediately. We were there in January of 2015 and loved the chilly weather and vistas of snow capped mountains in the distance. Streams were running in some of the parts and the Pank Rangers said flowers had emerged that hadn't been seen there in decades.
I will be out there in 2 weeks.

The mountain views are spectacular right now. This is Mt. San Jacinto as seen this morning from WDW in Palm Desert.
