Bummer! We are not there now, but will be there soon! (Jan 28 to Feb. 4). Have you seen any whales?

No Whales yet. I am staying on Medano Beach which is a bay and the whales dont like to come in here as there is a ton of traffic with jet skies and cruise ships. I was here in Nov and saw Whales then which was early. My DIL about went crazy when she saw those huge creatures from the sky pool at the PB Sunset Beach.

We were at PB Sunset Beach 5 weeks ago and although it was early in the season for whales, we saw a few right from our balcony.

Bummer, just left PBSB yesterday. :bawl:

For a great excursion try the whale watching with Cabo Expeditions. Simply amazing. We've used them twice and tried a cheaper vendor last year. That was almost a total bust. If you book online you get a 20% discount ($68 instead of $85 I think).

Bummer, we left PBSB on the 14th, too! I guess I should have checked TUG instead of just my e-mail while I was there ...

But to answer the question about whales: we saw tons of them from our balcony, usually at mid-morning. We also went whale watching with Cabo Expeditions, using the 2-for-1 coupon that is on the PBSB homepage. Some caveats about the outfit: they use zodiacs seating 28. If they have a full load, which we did, it is very close seating, and no backrests. You will also get splashed if you sit in front, as I did (it was kind of embarrasing walking around with wet pants afterwards ...). It also gets cold, especially if you are drenched. As for the whales: we saw more whales from our balcony than we did on the trip. We also saw many boats watching the whales that were offshore from PBSB, the Buccaneer Queen among them. If I were to do it again, I would go on the Buccaneer Queen.

Any chance you were on Cabo Adventures? I only ask because I can't imagine that 28 could fit on the boat were were in. There were about 10 of us on our boat but I couldn't imagine more than 15 would fit. 28 would be like sardines! (I just want to know for the future because I wouldn't want to be in a boat that full!!)

Were you out on Thursday by any chance? Our guide indicated that the whales were pretty quiet the day before we went on Friday. We saw a whale breach repeatedly (at least 6 or 7 times) in about a 15 minute period and saw another one flipping it's tail sideways. Then we were quite close to another pair for quite awhile. It was the best whale watching we had ever experienced. Bummer that you didn't enjoy your trip. That's such a disappointment (we had a very lackluster trip last year so I feel your pain).

We were on the Cabo Adventures on Wednesday, the 12 o'clock trip. While waiting to be picked up, we sat on our balcony and watched several whales, at least one breaching repeatedly. This led me to hope that being on the tour, up close and personal would be even better. However, we just saw a mother and her calf. Nice, but not as exciting as seeing them breach. And the Cabo Expeditions brochure states that the boat seats 28, but we had a boatload of 29. It was probably a mistake to book when a cruise ship was in port.
