Any Recs/Tips for activities in Olympic Peninsula?
Plan to stay at WM Discovery Bay for a week & WM Seaside for a week: Late June/Early July.
Seaside/Oregon coast likely would be easier to manage/plan but asking for tips/recs for the time at Discovery Bay/WA

Plan on biking Spruce Railroad Trail (& possibly other sections of Olympic Discovery Trail) ; Kayaking Crescent Lake & visiting sections of Olympic National Park (incl Hurricane Ridge, Hall of Mosses/Hoh or Quinault rainforest, Sol duc falls, possibly Ruby/Rialto Beach)..

Any Recs re preferred places for Kayaking for bioluminescence: ? Marrowstone Island/Fort Flagler or Port Gamble or others?
? Recs for outfitter
? worth it at all (if we happen to be there around Full Moon, with our schedule)

Might go to Victoria/BC for Canada Day: Thoughts?

Any other tips/recommendations?

TY!

It looks you have a fairly full list for Difscovery Bay. Cresent Lake is cold so be sure to use a 5mm wetsuit or stay close to shore. Follow the 50 50 rule .

The Port Townsend area like Fort Worden State Park has the best beaches in the area, imo.

We go to Victoria from Port Angeles by Ferry to get our Canadian halbut tags. The trip each way is a good 90 minutes plus load time. The ferry has a duty free store. If you go early Victoria is interesting enough to day trip.

Seaside is usually on the cool side until August, imo. There are plenty of things to do in this area.

Looks like can rent kayaks from Lodge at Lake Crescent or Log Cabin side, with folks recommending getting on Log cabin side (as more sun, more calm water esp AM); looks like lots of wind chop of upto 8 feet per some folks when PM winds pickup... Or may just do a kayak tour with Elevate Outdoors or other outfitter...
Friends of ONP was a nice resource on FB ( many reddit posts)
Any Recs for outfitter from experience (vs just google reviews etc)?
Also for bike rentals there?
Or the bioluminescence kayak around full moon (or skip)?
TY!

Ive never kayaked in those areas. We have crabbed at night at the Dungenous Spit area and our walking through the water with crab rakes left a glowing ripple. I thought it looked cool but also thought it was some kind of polution. After reading your post I think it was bioluminecence. We wear neopreme chest waders because the water is cold.

I take my boat to Discovery Bay. The kids and grandkids like to fish and crab. Im content to steer the boat and let them.

No clue about tour guides. Im sure all of them provide a 5 mil wetsuit.

I had asked a friend who has extensive experience camping and traveling in the Pacific Northwest and around the world of interesting things to do while visiting Sequim, which is famous for their lavender fields and this is what they recommended. Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to go there yet, but maybe this may be useful to you.

Hi- here’s some suggestions for your Sequim trip add on:

Olympic Game Farm

Salt Creek Recreation Area

Dungeness Spit Trail

+30-45’ away:

Lake Crescent

Devil’s punchbowl

Marymere falls

Hurricane Ridge

Sol Duc hot springs

Sol duc Falls

+1-2hrs away:

Kalaloch Beach

2nd Beach

Ruby Beach

Hoh Rainforest

Devil's punchbowl???

And add a good half hour to the time estimates. Discovery Bay isn't in Sequim.
