Any Monarch Owners willing to give a little advice?

My husband and I found a deal on Groupon for Cabo Azul, and absolutely loved the resort.

We participated in an ownership presentation and declined, as I've heard buying them resale is always a better option financially.

We've been discussing and researching purchasing Monarch or another timeshare since we've been home. I've read some questionable things regarding Monarch due to the sale to Diamond.

We want to do something, and loved the quality of Cabo Azul. We have heard some people have had trouble booking their points at that resort, yet I know Interval has extra weeks listed there.

So I guess I'm wondering how Monarch owners feel about their membership, and whether they have trouble using their points.

I'd be happy to hear any and all information you are willing to share .

Thanks so much!

You'll need quite a few points to stay at Cabo Azul. They are renewed every two years, and the maintenance fees are about $8.50 per credit over that time period. A one bedroom is 222 points, so the mfs would be about $1900 for that week every other year. A penthouse is about $1000 per day.
We enjoyed our membership while we had it, but the mfs became quite high when we increased to 1300 points. So, we traded them in on a TS with non-mandatory mfs.

Great, thanks for the information. I'm thinking they're too high as well. Do you own any other timeshares in Mexico/do you know of anything comprable to Cabo Azul with more reasonable fees?

We've been looking at Pueblo Bonito and the options of resorts look very nice. There are so many places in Mexico though, and not having been to all of them, I'm having trouble deciding.

We also own Grand Luxxe, and the mfs are lower than those of Cabo Azul with many more amenities. One has begun construction a few miles north of Cabo Azul. No idea of when it will be open.
