So far I haven't had any luck with hair color. Maybe 7 years back I had my hair colored the wrong color and they re-did the coloring but it turned orangutan instead of dark drown. I pretty much decided to not do the coloring again. Fast forward to now and the gray is coming in. More like white instead of gray. I would like to keep some of the gray but not all of it.

So far a buddy has suggested Greacian Formula. It looks like a hassle to use. Then there is the shampoo stuff called Control X which looks kind of easy and I'm all about easy.

Any decent advice appreciated. I will not let my wife, her sisters or my daughters color my hair. They were responsible for the orangutan color.

Just for Men autostop is simple and fast, nothing to mix, squeeze, comb thru, take your hands (with the gloves on they provide, just massage a little to get missed areas.

I use to do it for my other half, it is so easy he now does it himself. It looks natural and some grey remains so as it grows in it looks good. He has tried others including professional salons and this is what he loves. Best you only leave on 10 minutes. His natural color was originally dark brown too.

My dh does. He started doing it while he was still working and continued even after retiring. He doesn't do it himself though.

I can't imagine putting a color on my chest.

Oh, I see you're talking about the head.... I don't have enough to color. Never mind!

For me it was a race between going grey and falling out, starting in high school. Falling out won, with going grey a close second. No point in coloring what remains - it’ll likely fall out tomorrow anyway... :)

Husband colored his hair once. I didn’t like it. He looks great with his gray hair. Remember men look distinguished gray!

The Just for Men shampoo Control x looks easier because you just wash your hair. The Amazon reviews look ok but I don't like trusting them.

I think my hair would look good when it finally goes all the way gray. Right now it is speckled at half and half.

You have the constant expense of the shampoo plus the chemicals rinse all over your body each time you wash your hair if you are in the shower. Try the just for men autostop once, my other half only likes easy and he is happy.

I’m pretty much like my father, I have plenty of hair but it is turning grey pretty fast. Mine still grows fast enough for a haircut every month and she has to take a lot off. That’s when I really see all the grey.

I thought about coloring it a few years ago and I just don’t want to mess with it. I know some other people who do and it is obvious so I’m just going to go grey naturally

Most men should have their hair colored by a professional every 3 weeks for it to look natural. Unless you are willing to commit to the time and cost you should let it go salt and pepper, gray, silver or white. It looks great on men. Bad box hair color is not a good look.

This has crossed the mind of many men, but keep in mind, your grey hair has been earned with age and don't complain about growing old. It is a privilege denied to many.
Besides, it's great to have gray hair. Ask anyone who's bald. ;)

This reminds me of a man and woman I knew years ago. Rumor has it that these two co-workers ( a VP and his assistant) were more than close out of the office. It was a confirmation to all the Monday morn they both showed up with the same hair color (a reddish brown).

If I remember correctly started coloring his hair because he was feeling subtle discrimination at work because of his age. I don't remember exactly what he told me at the time. It could have been that it was him and a bunch of young guys.

And for those who have said it's great to have gray hair instead of being bald.....heck, if you're bald no one can tell your age due to hair color.

Mine (what's left of it) is pretty silver/gray. DW's is turning gray- her dad's was snow white. This thread brought to mind a woman who sings in our baritone/bass section (yeah, I know- a WOMAN baritone?!) who came to rehearsal all light blonde. She said she'd been coloring her hair for 50 years (a deep auburn) and was tired of the hassle. She had her beautician lighten it to close to what her natural silver/white would be when it grows out. We teased her for a couple of rehearsals about if blondes have more fun, but soon it just seemed 'normal' and nobody gave it a second look or thought.

Cliff dyed his beard at one point. His hair was (and still is at almost 82) dark, but his beard was gray. He eventually stopped worrying about the gray beard in his late 50s.

A few years back when I had a lot more hair I did colour it. This caused my Baby Brother to get very upset on one ocassion. Oldest brother Ron had been in a bad fire. He was in a medically induced coma. Mike and I flew into the Bay Area. Mike had a lot of gray hair. On our first visit the Nurse on Duty was a very attractive young woman. She knew how old Ron was as she had been treating him for several days. She referred to Mike as the oldest brother. Did not go over well with Mike.

Now I just accept my curly white hair and most of the time have it in a pony tail. Sometimes Patti does not like it when women compliment on my hair. It really looks nice after a day of snorkeling/swimming in the ocean and naturally drying in the sunshine.
