We need a car for probably just two days in San Francisco area, and may just park it at BART to avoid the parking charges in SF, but I'm looking at all possibilities. I usually just use Priceline at the airport, but I know codes can lower prices, too.
thanks,
Liz

When ever I rent a car I go through pretty much the same process.

1. Find the wholesale baseline. If you are a Costco member use thier codes. Call II or Rci and see if thier prices are any good. I mainly use Costco but I try Travelocity, etc.. Then I lowball it on Priceline.

I have received for the week 1. $135 midsize, out of Tampa 2. $175 midsize, Orlando during Thanksgiving week. 3. $150 midsize Maui.

I figure if I can save money on the car rental then I have more money for entertainment.

Keep in mind that some discount codes found on the internet will require ID when renting the car.

I desperately need a good code for my California Vacation in August. We were originally set to depart from San Diego, but Delta(too many changes, will never book with them again) changed my flight and made it too early, so now I am departing from Los Angelos.

I was paying $468 after taxes and fees for a 2 weeks rental of a minivan (pickup in San Fransisco), now changing the drop off to Los Angelos addes a drop off fee bringing the total up to $622.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try flyertalk. That's the kinda stuff they talk about.

Back, I had to cut it short because I was in the way of the vacuum cleaner lady. ;)

Last Christmastime, the least expensive car I could find was $1500. A code I got from flyertalk made that less than $600. When we arrived I upgraded to what would have been more than $2000 originally, for ten bucks more a day, less than $200 total.

Codes come and go and they have lengthy threads talking about them.

What happens if I need the rental car for January?

The Entertainment book is only good to the end of 2007 right? So if I need the rental car for Jan. 2008 I have to wait to buy the NEW Entertainment book for FULL price right?

Thanks.
