Any Charlotte airport experts?

I just saw that my USAir flights have been changed for Easter week. Now there is only 50 min. connection to go from a domestic flight to a Cancun flight at CLT.

And on the return there is 1.5 hours between flights in Charlotte. Is that enough time to get through customs on a Saturday afternoon (3 p.m.), the Saturday after Easter?

Of course, USAir never notified me of the changes. I just happened to look today to see if I could get better seats.

:(

Thanks for your suggestions.

Going should not be a problem, as the airport is relatively small and not difficult to navigate. Coming back could be a problem, however, as mid- afternoon in passport control/customs is often pretty busy at that airport, what with many European flights coming in. I have been stuck in line for as much as an hour as an American citizen, and have waited for 90 minutes for European visitors to get through. I would contact USAir and say, 'Look what your schedule changes are doing to me - you gotta fix this!"

I would agree that outbound would be no problem, but that could be a very tight squeeze in customs inbound.

So, basically, adding no new information, except that the sushi place is pretty good. :)

Would it be faster if we did not check bags? Most of the flights are sold out already so I do not think USAir will offer to change. But, I will try.

A bit. You'll get thru customs faster if you don't have to wait for your bags and recheck them.

To clear customs + immigration, I'd want at least a 2-hr layover, but it can be done in 1.5 if you trot a bit.

With not claiming checked bags, you will have a better chance but I would see if there is a later connecting flight for back up. Even if it is sold out now, they will probably try and squeeze you on if you miss the connection.

Cheers

I have had to change planes there quite a few time this past year. Many bad experiences and now I will not take a domestic flight through Charolette with less than an hour between flights. This has been my sad experience with USAair this past year. I even got stuck and had to spend the night because they would not reroute me on another airline. Why do I still fly through Charolette on USAir, because sometimes the flight schedules for other airlines are very inconvenient. I would never use them to get on an international flight with only 50 minutes between flights.
