Hi

I just purchased my 1st timeshare...it's FF points accounts. I'm super excited!!!

We want to use it to go on our honeymoon to the Caribbean May 2009. Closing should be finished March 2009. Then I can trade it RCI, are the odds good i can find and make a reseravtion...that late in the game.

Or should I skip the risk and book a less desirable TS in the FF system on a GC before closing is finished.

hope this makes sense.....

May is shoulder season in that part of the world, so you may have a shot. I suspect that with Caribbean airfares these days, demand will also be down, which should help.

You might also want to check www.daelive.com and www.htse.net which have search first features, and in the case of DAE, free membership. There are a number of Caribbean resorts that DAE can often get ''on request'' but you have to make a request. ''On request'' inventory does not show up online. My neice wanted to go to a specific resort for her honeymoon, Morritts in Grand Cayman, so I put in a request with DAE for that specirfic resort that specific week, and they came through with it. Morritts happened to be one of the resorts that they had that ''on request'' relationship with.

I think with FF points, you would need to use the points to reserve something specific that you could then trade to DAE or HTSE.

keep checking for cancellations or late deposits. People who may have booked a week, or have there own week booked, but had been waiting for airfares to get cheaper and they are not.

Now you are still going to have the issue that the airfare is not cheap, but you might find a timeshare of two. Focus on Aruba and St Maarteen as they have the largest supply of units.
