never pay upfront fees to sell or rent a timeshare!

A man known by the nickname “Wolf” accused of operating a timeshare fraud out of Orlando and St. Cloud call centers has been charged with swindling more than 1,000 people out of more than $3.3 million.

An indictment was unsealed Thursday charging Daniel Martin “Wolf” Boyer with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud.

Boyer was arrested on Wednesday in Orlando, court documents said.

It's always heartening and gratifying to see a scammer successfully introduced to the criminal justice system, but it's curious that none of the "numerous company names and shell companies" were identified, since all would presumably have been named within the indictment.

It would be much more informative to clearly identify both the scam company name(s) and the scamming individual(s) identity.
That's just predictably lazy TV reporting, but hopefully further details will be disclosed in subsequent print or online reports.

"Over the course of about two years, the scheme netted Boyer’s companies more than $3.3 million."

Wow! Am I ever in the wrong business. And we wonder why there are so many upfront fee scams running. But just doing the math, $3.3 million and just over 1000 victims, that's about $3,300 per victim. I get this feeling that he contacted the same victim(s) multiple times with different aliases and sales pitches.

Well anyway, I hope that justice for this scammer goes beyond just getting arrested.

In fairness, we don't know how far that $3.3M had to go as far as supporting call center, etc. He may not have ended up with as much as you think.

Too close to home...for me. I screen all my phone calls. Glad he was caught.

Isn't that public record? Look up online?
