I've sold about 25 valuable Marriott units over the last 6 years to whittle our Marriott ownership down to our "retirement portfolio". I've kept our most valuable ones, that we enjoy using, as well as the ones that we get the most value from in terms of rental income. You would think the most valuable, ie highest resale value, would be the ones we get the most monetary value from, but I've come to the conclusion that at least for us and the last 7 years, our least valuable Marriotts in fact bring us the most value, dollar for dollar.

I'm talking about our Harbour Point weeks 27 and 32. Just this morning, for the first time, after so many useless II exchange offers over the phone, I received a call from II where they actually offered me exactly what I wanted for 2027, (2) first week in May MOC 2BDRM full kitchen units. I immediately accepted both units. This is the 7th year in a row that I've accomplished what I consider a huge score through II, whether it be 2 consecutive/concurrent weeks on Maui 4x or July weeks at the GO, which we accomplished 3x. These are units I bought for $2000 7 years ago, with $1942 MFs now, and they have brought great value ever since. And the cherry on top this year is we were looking for the same view category to hopefully be close by our extended family joining us and saw the codes TTZQ so knew they were the same, but could we get lucky and get OF? Well I just checked the code TTZQ and it is OF!!

I know these aren't bright red Maui weeks but still very high demand but the GOs, are bright red and I can secure via trade with our HP when ever I want it seems. I do put these in 18 months in advance as you can do with fixed weeks so I do always get in front of the line with the early deposit and it usually comes through about 9-11 months before check-in. This year it took longer than normal, a month or so, so I thought maybe my lucky run was over and then i got the call this morning.

Anyone else get similar outcomes from II using $2k or less units pulling a good beach or ski week? I would honestly sell many of my much more "valuable" Marriotts before I sell our HPs if this trend continues.

Not exactly Marriott but part of the extended family... recently got 4 Westin Nanea 2br/2bath units for summer 2027 all with separate 1br SDO lock-offs. 2 units are concurrent and 2 are consecutive.

I had OGS for all 4 of these units but they were secured after receiving a call from II that they were holding them for me.

Is this a new system where II holds units I have listed in my OGS and calls direct rather than make an automatic exchange like they use to?

Beautiful! Actually the Westin Nanea is always on my list of acceptable Maui resorts and we've used our HP to trade into the Nanea a few times.

Good question about the calls. I've received them a few times in the past but usually with something not quite what I was looking for so this was really a pleasant surprise. My rep said the reason for the call instead of the instant match was because of the parking fees that he needed to make me aware of. Unless something has changed as a Marriott owner I don't pay for parking so that didn't make sense to me but I didn't really care, I was so happy with the outcome. I actually assumed he was talking about the resort tax that I think we do pay.

I traded a one bedroom at Shadow Ridge Villages platinum season (booked President's week) for 2 bed MM! for 2/28-3/7 for this year. Great trade. I was ecstatic and loved that unit almost as much as our Westin.

not as good a trade as above tuggers

used soon to expire 8/2026 marriott ocean point studio for 2 bedroom marriott shelter cove at hilton head for 8/2027. no upgrade fee as exchange during the free unit upgrade promotion

1 bedroom grand vista exchange for 2 bedroom westin nanea for august 2026

I'm doing better than usual this year with the deposit Accom Certs in II. Getting good reservations +6months in advance both by putting in a request or spotting instant inventory.

I’ve been a Nanea owner since it was built and I’ve never heard of a “separate 1br SDO lock-off”. I think you are mistaken.

Now that is a great trade. Please share the execution of this. Was it a 12 month request or short notice?

SDO= Sheraton Desert Oasis. The poster used a SDO unit to trade into Nanea.
This is correct. I split my 2br SDO Sheraton Desert Oasis into 2 separate 1br units for exchange in II. I did this for 2-2br SDO units, giving me 4 1br SDO units deposited into II.

Using the 4 separate 1br SDO units, I exchanged all of them into summer 2027 Nanea 2br units. I am very happy with that series of exchanges.

It came through over a year out with an ongoing search. It wasn't oceanfront, it was a view of the sidewalk going into the building from the parking garage. Fourth floor, so looking out of the living room or from the lanai to the right was the parking garage, straight ahead was the Lanai tower, to the left was the ocean.

Glad to see others also getting great value. If you don't mind sharing what are the details? !2 month trade request? How long did it take to come through?

Last-minute is always fun but I don't plan last-minute trips much.

Still a great trade during primetime whale season.

Both trades were about 6-8 months out, instant exchange.

So just this morning another HP, week 36, secured a consecutive week for me in May 2027. So 3 HPs got me the exact MOC Lahaina/Napili 2BDRM units, 2 for May 2 and one for May 9. all ZZTQ Oceanfront Amazing luck.

Wow!!! Great exchanges. Did you get them from an OGS or from II calling to let you know they were hiding them for you?

First 2 for May 2nd was from a phone call. The last one was OGS.

I found MOC Lahaina/Napili 2BDRM, May 9, available this a.m. as well, and grabbed it by retrading my MOC - Molokai, Maui & Lanai Towers Ocean View, which I originally obtained earlier this week by trading my Grand Residence 1BDRM. My newly obtained MOC Lahaina/Napili 2BDRM turned out to be ZZTQ Oceanfront! Good things come to those who wait (and are diligent in their searches).

They definitely just dropped them in there this am because they weren't there yesterday. I'll take it. Nice to see so many OF units coming through. There's no guarantees but the track record is they will stay OF so that's a great value for an HP or 1BDRM GR. I assume/hopeful they will keep us in the same OF unit from May 2-16 since room designations are the same. My kids will be in the 3rd unit and we haven't had them with us together since 2021 so nice to get lucky with the units. Last year we got an OV Lahaina and a Westin Nanea for the second week that we were very happy with but 3 OFs are even better.
