If I purchase a resale Mayan Palace unit in lets say Nuevo Vallarta, am I readily able to exchange for a unit in Cancun, the Marina, Los Cabos? If I exchange through Mayan Palace is there a fee for doing this? If I had a lockoff unit and wanted to stretch it into two weeks by using a 1 BR and a hotel unit, would I be able to split locations, staying one week in Nuevo and one in let's say the Marina, if available.

Cabo is a Grand, so the answer to Cabo is no. Only Mayan Palace locations. It doesn't matter where your contract is from. There is no fee for going to another MP resort. Just remember to do it on the 1st 6 months out, i.e., March 1 will be for September reservations. You can break up your unit and stay in 2 different locations at 2 different times.

I know Monica is a Mayan Owner and is probably correct on this matter. When I toured the San Jose Del Cabo mayan in the fall. It was stated that all mayan owners would be able to requested and reserve that location. the reasoning of course was that they built the Grand first and that was all that was available. I know the sales staff lies, so please to jump all over me. I had my friend that owns mayan palace call and ask if this was correct and they told her YES as soon as the resort is open all mayan owners will have access.

MP at work they built the fancy GM first and when the timeshare sale people show the resort to people who go to the presentation and they buy MP they might think they are getting something that look like the GM. I am also sure sales will not mention about the pool restriction if you are MP or GM.

If you are an owner in one, you can go anywhere in the Mayan system as long as you reserve the 6 months in advance.
I am not sure about how splitting the unit works, we've always used the 2 bedrooms.
DO NOT buy WHITE weeks

Remember:
Holiday times go faster.
PV is smaller, it fills up faster. Although NV is nicer, many prefer PV as it is much closer to town.

Cabo resort will have MP units, these will be built up first, as usual per all Mayan Resorts. What has changed is that they've dropped the Sea Gardens which in any case are being eliminated from all the Mayan resorts.

The Grand is being built first, not the Mayan Palace. I don't know if your first sentence means if you own MP, you can stay at GM, or if you own at Sea Garden (excluding MZT) you can stay at a Mayan, because you can't. It has to be the same product. MP owners into other MP, GM into GM and SG into SG. That is with making reservations with Customer Service in Houston. Remember the 6-month-out rule. You can break up your unit into 2 separate weeks @ 2 separate locations. And there is a possibility MP owners will be able to stay at the Cabo Grand as a promotion in the beginning. Afterwards, you'll have to wait for the MP to be built. Also, I don't know how you can say Sea Gardens are being eliminated; they just built a new one in NV.

When we bought our GM we were told you can trade down but you cannot trade up. Example if you own a 1 BR GM you can get a 1 or 2 BR MP but you cannot use a 2 BR MP to even get a GM studio.
Not like Sea Garden (MZT) where you can the 2 BR to stay in a 1 BR MP.

You're correct.

You're correct. You can go down, but not up. Sorry for the confusion, if any.

And another question....If you purchase lets say a Presidential Unit, Ocanview, do they give you the same when you exchange to other resorts, or even the same resort?

What resort is ...

...selling Presidential Unit, Oceanview? In NV, half of the units are ocean-view, half are golf-course view. In Riviera, I don't know if any are ocean-view (maybe someone else can clarify this?). In Acapulco, none are ocean-view per se because the trees are too tall! In PP, same set up as in NV. In PV, I think some are ocean-view. So to answer your question, if dealing w/ MP (not GM) you will not get ocean-view, because they don't really exist. Who told you Presidentail units are all ocean-view if an owner?

Sorry, this is a 2BR at the Marina in PVR. I just assumed it was Oceanview. It is listed as a Presidential Suite. I think I was trying to ascertain if one was always put in a comparable unit (location, age, etc.) as what you owned.

It can be ocean-view in PV. When you make your reservation, do it on the 1st of the month that is 6-months out from the month you want to visit. If you request the full 2-bedroom, of course you will get the 2-bedroom unit if they are not all reserved already. All of the resorts are different ages, so that will not play into the reservation at all. You can request a certain location as far as your room at reservation time, but rooms are asigned at check-in.
