How ironic - Governor says 'now is not the time to visit Hawaii - we are asking our travel partners to discourage travel to the islands until the end of October'. Right after that I am deluged with offers of cheap airfare and hotels to Hawaii. Hope people go - we just got back after 18 days on the BI - shops and restaurants that were open thanked us for being there, say they are barely hanging on (one shop owner we have visited for years said she is on the verge of losing her house). CPH (Provision House restaurant at the Hilton hotel) closed up on 9/7 until Thanksgiving - employees were not happy about that. State officials say the most if not all of the infections are from residents who refuse the vaccine, virtually none are from travel, we pump $1,000's of dollars into the local economy while there, but what do they do? Stop travel.

I received the same reaction from our recent Oahu trip. The excursion vendors are livid with the governor because they are barely surviving. They were grateful we came and had many colorful comments about the governor.

Interesting opportunity to visit the Grand Islander.
