I am making an observation and hope that I am not offending anyone. I am a fairly new Wyndham owner and have been spending time on the other site reading for the past year. I have seen many of you there:) TUG is such a welcoming place and I have greatly enjoyed reading everyone's posts and joining in when I have something to contribute. However, on the Wyndham owners forum, I'm too afraid to post anything for fear of being chastised about some offense I've committed. I feel actually uncomfortable reading some of the responsed because they are so abrupt.

Like I said, it's my observation and admittedly, I can be a little thin skinned. Just wondering if anyone else feels that way...

You know, I just happened to read the Wyndham forum here today as well, and did notice that some of the answers are more abrupt than on the Hilton forum, which I frequent.

I don't think it is intentional, I just think it may be because some folks are quite displeased with Wyndham now over some corporate moves by the company. As well, the Wyndham product itself seems a bit more complicated to me than HGVC, so perhaps the answers are short due to the nature of the point system.

I think that your little note is a good reminder to all of us to try and remain courteous and as friendly as possible in our postings(which I think happens 9.99/10 times anyway!) :)

I think the poster might mean the Wyndham Owners Forum at Yahoo. Is that it?

The Wyndham forum was notoriously rude a few years ago, then under the name Fairfield. I stopped visiting. (the yahoo group)

Do you have your name on the signiture line? No question of any kind will be answered if you don't have that!

Like you I have signed up, but slightly worried I don't have all my i's dotted on my profile before I post.

As far as I know there is only one rule there, and that is to sign your post. If not done then that may be the source of your discomfort.

If you have been there for a year reading then you are more than ready to post and contribute to discussions and should do so.

That forum is set up so that there is one main responder to questions and given time demands etc at times it may seem that way. Anyone having such demands could appear short at times, my opinion goes the other way and given the setup as an educational site some explainations and discussions are unnecessarily repeated.

Anyway, don't feel as if you can not post. All sites need interestered members. With all the changes occurring there is much to discuss.

:hysterical:  :hysterical:

That Cracks me up!! I've never actually posted because of the tone and I didn't know all the "rules" and was worried I'd make a mistake. I wanted to post some points to rent but someone did it incorrectly and boy did they get reamed! Obviously, I'm not actually afraid of anything, but I visit these sites partly for comaraderie and the last thing I need is to be scolded over the internet:rolleyes:

As always, thank you for the kind replies. It does make me realize again that I do need to appreciate the enormous amount of time that certain people donate to our cause!!

I'm not familiar with this "other" forum, but it sure sounds like another site that people go to for insight on using Hotwire/Priceline.

It's not run by someone named Sheryl, is it? :D

I hear you. I think I've posted twice and both times been "reprimanded". I lurk but don't bother contributing.

I also lurk alot on still another forum. Although I have posted occassionally, I'm slow to, because of the harsh responses I see to others' posts. I've seen posters being chastized repeatedly for not searching a question before posting - even when the thread in question is up to 75 pages long. Many times the poster says they have read multiple pages of threads and either didn't find their answer or the posts were all several years old!

Overall, the general attitude of reproachfulness makes one slow to post.

Just my opinion.

I find this really funny. I am in the process of buying two resale weeks at a Wyndham resort and waiting for the paperwork to go through. Accordingly I registered at both the Bluebeard's BC resort site and the Wyndham site. Since I never got a confirming e-mail from Wyndham, I had not been back to the site while waiting approval. Then about 3-4 weeks later I get an e-mail saying I am going to be dropped because I have not been signing on. I just shook my head and decided I didn't need it. TUG and BBC have all the info I need.
