I've ran into a few TS auctions recently that I've been very interested in only to have the seller ignore my questions on the unit. Not only do they do a disservice to themselves but it irks me that I may miss out on something that I may have interest in because of someone's lack of professionalism.

I feel like screwing up their auctions and bidding it up and then saying "sorry I thought it was something else" and telling them maybe next time you'll answer my multiple requests for clarification.

Sorry just venting.

What about sending an email stating what you hope the unit is (e.g. a 2 bdrm, beachfront, bldg X), and asking them to tell you right away if anything in your understanding is incorrect. After a day goes by, feel free to start bidding. If you win, resend your email and ask them to confirm all the details.

That is pretty much what I did. I said in my 2nd of 3 emails that I assume its OF and will bid accordingly unless I hear from you. I added if its wrong I'll have to request a change to my bid and still got no response.

I wouldn't do it but I'd love to muck up these guys' auctions to teach them a lesson.

That's funny, if you can rename this thread to "annoying ad posters on TUG Marketplace" you'll get the same result... no responses to your inquiry.

I'm finding the same thing with a seller who is offering a Westin Ka'anapali unit. I've emailed twice about wrong or unclear information and have gotten no reply.

In fairness, the two email systems are not linked up. I'm on TUG several times per day and any PM's on the marketplace do not get sent over to the BBS site. Any emails I get from the Marketplace, go straight into the junk mail/spam becuase they are from individuals gmail/yahoo accounts that are not recognized.

Now I know the two are separate, whereas I think most people don't. Everytime I log on to the BBS site, I will also check the Marketplace.

The difference is on eBay, they ignore you becuase they don't truely know what they are selling. On the marketplace it is a notification issue.

Look at it this way. If they're not interested in taking the time to answer your questions, they probably won't take the time to transfer the property in a timely manner or get the title transfered correctly. They're letting you know up front they're going to be trouble if you bid, win and try to close.

This is true, but sometimes this situation leads to a diamond in the rough so I was trying to complete my due dligence to see if its one of those.

Is it true that if you bid real estates on ebay and then back out after you win, there is no bad feedback can put under you?

I did not know this, and it makes sense now... but if this is a known problem with the TUG Markeetplace, why has it not been addressed?

Isn't the TUG market place a form email that is sent from the bbs system and not from our actual email accounts? If we list our return email as gmail/yahoo that's only for response purposes but not actually sent from those accounts?

I agree with every statement you have made. It's a shame those folks will not take the time to respond or make an effort to work with you before the end of the auction. The couple of times this has happened to me I did the best I could then took a chance (realizing the worst was not all bad) and things went ok. Funny how the sellers come up with the answers after the auction when the statement is made......"I expect an answer to my questions before I will send any money".......!!!!! It should never come down to that situation and maybe we should tag team them on one of these "no responses".

We list multiple units on eBay at a time. One thing I have learned about eBay is trust--- if someone paid to list and is not willing to answer the questions in a fashionable matter I automatically assume it is a "bait and switch" or some other alternative. Most people with reputable eBay accounts have notifications and other methods that alert them of any account activity. It is upsetting to see especially if you really want the product!!
