It is indeed an historic day. We wish the new President well and no matter how anyone voted last November, for all our sakes and for the good of the world, we hope and pray for a successful Presidency.

Folks - please don't make this political, or racial, or we will have to close it.

You know, supporter or not, you must admit that many hearts throughout the land were opened up today. I sure hope my DD in middle school was able to watch this historic event.

I say, let us ALL take advantage of this opportunity, be proud of what we just accomplished, and move forward with open minds.

Regardless of the incoming administration's political party affiliation, I always enjoy the pomp and circumstance surrounding inaugurations and other official government functions. All-out celebrations for the peaceful transfer of power make perfect sense to me.

I remember watching in grade school during the seventies when all we saw on TV was the half-minute of time it took to administer the oath of office. These days, with all of the technology advances, we're treated to live coverage of almost every related event. It's never too much for government-pageantry junkies like me!

This is a wonderful day for America and the world. I wish and pray for the very best for the Obama administration and that peace, hope and prosperity can reign in our future.

I did not vote for Obama, and my political persuasions differ greatly from his.

That being said, this is a splendid moment for our country. This is not an inauguration like the ones before it.

In my lifetime we have become a cynical people and a jaded nation. This election, however, was a reassurance that the better forces that have shaped our country have not died, but have only been slumbering

I know that I will differ from my President, just as I have with others before him. I realize that strain, strife, bitterness, and rancor lie ahead of us. There will be times when the ugliness will swell and threaten to overcome us once again.

But for ths moment we as a people are able to stand and be proud of what we are and of who we are in a way that we haven't been able to express for years.

This is not a moment like the others before.

This is an important event. After the election I heard a story of a woman in her early 100's who was the daughter of a former slave; many of us probably remember using the Radio Shack "Trash 80's" in school and are amazed at how things have changed since then, we've got nothing on her.

Steve, I didn't want to say that "out loud", but let us hope that Obama does such a great job that even those of us who may have gone another direction last election day, will in fact vote for him in four years.

We have a mayor in Houston, Bill White, that took office as a member of a certain political party (not mine) and immediately became so popular that he has run virtually uncontested for the last two terms with about 90% of the vote. Since Mayor White is now at his three term limit he is seeking to run for the Senate (if Kay Bailey Hutchison steps down as expected).

Wouldn't that be something President Obama could gather that type of popularity. I'm all for it. :D

I beleive that feeling of euphoria most of us are having is that of hope. At least hope that it will no longer be business as usual.
