I went onto amtrakguestrewards.com to register for a current promotion as we're taking Acela to/from Washington, D.C. soon. On the site is a mini-preview describing the coming changes in January.

I just skimmed it, so cannot offer a good synopsis or opinion. Will need to take some time.
