Amex Platinum card code

Our underage daughter recently received a promo for an Amex Platinum card offering $150 off the first years memebership. Thre it out. Now I may wish to try it for the 4 companion tickets offered. Does anyone have the code? Has anyone had any personal experience with the Companion ticket offer. Many of these are scams but I doubt Amex would use one of those companies. Yuor thoughts are appreciated.

Try the Amex board at FlyerTalk...they usually post Amex codes there although if I remember correctly, you need an invitation code for all Platinum card bonus offers. Some have been able to get offers regardless. Here is the link:

I have been an AmX platinum member for longer than I can remember, I get tons of those certificates adn never seem to be able to use one due to all the restrictions. Then I found out that I had to take ti to the local airport ticket counter as they could not process it any other way.

My husband received an offer for a AMEX gold card, no annual fee first year and 50,000 points to use for travel. The promotion listed the 50,000 points as "two free airline tickets". We got the card and had to spend $150 by 6-30-08 to get the 50,000 points. I think I saw this offer on the website for Bankrate.com, you might look there. I don't have a promotional code, sorry.

I have the amex platinum card for about a year and got it specifically for the companion fare. I have used it for NYC- Albuquerque in Feb and NYC- SanDiego in Oct and saved a bundle. It more than covered the cost of the card. I didn't have any problems in getting the dates or the time I wanted to fly. You just call an 800 number, get to the companion desk, and tell them what you want. They come back with flights and you decide if you want them. You should know what the airfare is since on one occasion to West Palm Beach, the companion fare was slightly higher than 2 tickets I could get on Jet Blue.

I get these companion tickets from CO all the time from the Continental Master Card. I keep forgetting to use them. I buy the tickets then hit myself in the head at my stupidity when I forget to use them. They don't make it easy and that's why I think I forget all the time.
