Yes, at least as of last quarter, AA gift card (virtual version) still works. And luckily for me AA is more often than not the better option for my travels from NY.

Yes can call CS and ask them to pre-pay. Now that we are Q4, you can just use them when the MF bill posts though. I just make the credit amounts across the cards in Q4 though. I do the same across all cards in the second week of January except the final card where I pay the balance. This is for our Blvd MFs. For CL, we pay it all in December.
