American Airlines Now Charging Fees To Non-Passengers

FORT WORTH, TX—Cash-strapped American Airlines announced a new series of fees this week that will apply to all customers not currently flying, scheduled to fly, or even thinking about flying aboard the commercial carrier.

The fees, the latest introduced by American Airlines in a continuing effort to combat its financial woes, will take effect on Monday. According to company officials, these charges will include a $25 tax on citizens traveling with any other airline, as well as a mandatory $30 surcharge for passengers who decide to just stay home for the holidays instead.

The Airplane Business.

An acquaintance who was involved in founding a US airline & who became an airline industry consultant after that explained the airplane business.

You can make money building airplanes.

You can make money fixing airplanes.

You can make money renting out airplanes via lease.

You can make money selling airplanes.

You just can't make any money flying airplanes.

Loyal customer

I am so glad that I booked tickets on AA! It would have been very expensive to just stay home. Thanks for sharing this very informative article, which I won't share w/ DH because I don't want him to know he'll have to spend big bucks to clean out our basement when we're not traveling.

Sure hope the other airlines don't pick up and start applying these charges.

best joke

THis reminded me of the best joke ever played. In Quebec in the 70's and 80's the Bloc Quebecois kept pushing French more and more. Companies had to change their names and signs so that French would be the more prominent language. One day my Mom is listening to the radio and they announce that the government has passed a law that the main language on your tombstone must now be French. Many English speaking Quebecer's were outraged including my Mom. Phonecalls flooded in to the station to complain. I'm sure the callers were happy when they heard April Fool's!

I didn't mind paying for not flying AA, but when they added a fuel surcharge fee to my non-flight I thought that that was a bit much.

Plus, how about that $25 charge for each checked suitcase you're not checking ?

After seeing this, I looked at the site for other funny items.

The video with the "pretty girls union refuses to talk to Martin Greenburg" is very funny.

Also the video of "Hilter & the real estate collapse" is very good
