America West to US Air Flight Fund Bump Ticket-Can I change it?

Last February my daughter and I took a bump on an America West Flight to get the ($300 each ) Flight Fund Voucher. I have until Feb. 26th according to the voucher to complete the travel.

We have been waiting to hear if she has been accepted to one of the colleges on her list (Antioch in Ohio) but as of yet we haven't gotten word if she made it in or not. If we can visit the college on a free ticket all the better.

Since the last date of travel is the 26th, I made reservations using the voucher on US Air for presidents weekend hoping that by that time we will have received word if they will overlook her dismal math scores and accept her on her other merits.

If I find out that there is no need to go to Ohio can I cancel my reservations/tickets and pay the change fee to put the dollar amount towards another ticket at a later date somewhere else?

I'm to mail the vouchers in tomorrow. I'm waiting to put the names on the passenger line as once I've done that I can't change it. I asked two reservationists and neither of them seemed to know if I can pay the change fee and use the ticket later if need be.

I don't know the exact terms of the voucheers, but if the last date for travel is 2/26, I think you should plan to use it or lose it. Most such vouchers can't be extended, nor can the tickets issued with the vouchers be extended.

However, it never hurts to ask. If you decide the current trip isn't necessary, call and ask if you can get an extension, stating that the need to cancel your trip was unaviodable.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a "yes"!
