More competition is wonderful thing, but the danger will come when Amazon purchases the competition.

Does Amazon use the PO? Maybe it's due to where I live (Chicago suburb), but I've never received anything that way. My items are always dropped off by delivery people.

Amazon uses their own delivery service as well as UPS and USPS.

Their decision on using what carriers to deliver their packages is made upon costs, staffing, and speed of delivery. Ideally they would like to deliver 100% of their own packages, but just don't have the capability at this point. Their goal is to deliver all of their own packages within a few years (that's one of the reason they are experiencing with drones as the future of Amazon deliveries).
