Has anyone taken Alexa on vacation with them to a timeshare where there is wifi? I can't tell from the Amazon discussion forum whether it will work reliably. Some say yes and others say no.

I'm sure it would depend on the quality of the wifi signal. Why would you want to anyway? You could get a cheap bluetooth speaker to play music from your phone, computer, or tablet. Just curious since I can't think of any other reason to bring it along.

It should work as long as you have reliable Wi-Fi. It would be a matter of setting it up on another Wi-Fi system with a username and password like you did originally at home.

As to why: Because Echo/Alexa does much more than play music at home. She gives news briefs/weather, sets alarms and timers, turns lights off, reads kindle/audible books. Of course, she can't turn lights and appliances on/off or set the thermostat in a TS so I'm not convinced she's needed on vacation, but she is so useful to my disabled DH at home I thought he might like to have her along when we travel.

I brought my Tap to my home resort a few years ago but the Wi-Fi never stayed connected. None of my devices stayed connected with our being used. I'm am here now and the Wi-Fi stays connected now so I will bring it in my next trip.I use it for a lot too. My wife was cooking and she told Alexa to set a timer like at home, so we do miss it.

Yes, we take ours. Use it for on demand music when coupled with Spotify.
There have been threads on this subject previously.

I take Alexa, but for me it's easy. It's built into my Kindle tablet. The audio isn't as good as the Echo, but it's hard to beat the convenience.

yes, that was the very reason I bought a Tap. ( I also have 2 Dot and an original Echo. )

I love taking my Tap. I have taken it to various timeshares, and even camping and at the cottage.

I take the Echo to my places in Steamboat every year. Just a matter of connecting via the Alex App to the appropriate WiFi network. Takes 2-3 minutes.

Cheers

I have an app on my android tablet that communicates with my dot at home. There is a time delay but works. All you have to do is download the app and know your Amazon log in. Why bother hauling it with you unless you have the full echo and like the sound quality.
