The photo shows only a few of the dozen Uhaul trucks parked near the regional UPS center in East Alton IL. There are a dozen more as well as Ryder trucks on the ups lot. A UPS employee stated that theyre flying in workers from California to fill the workload. There are two massive Amazon distribution centers 3 miles down the road from this UPS center.

I'm looking forward to drone deliveries.
I know a guy who has a large lock-box outside his door...
Delivered stuff goes in, but nothing comes out w/o a key.

Personally, I hate drones because in the hands of the wrong person or group they can be used as weapons of mass destruction. IMHO.

More as weapons of mini-destruction.
I could pick up and drop dog-poop on my neighbors.
There's one down the street who annoys me.

Talent312, drones are used by our military everyday and they are all not used to take glamour pictures and used to drop off Amazon packages. I can give you an example how one drone can kill thousands and thousands of people.

Again, this is my personal opinion why I hate drones in the hands of our enemies.

Interesting concept however, how would the drone open the "lock-box" in order to put it in? :ponder:

Maybe unlocked to start and then locked upon closing the second time. Or by weight.

I dunno about drones. I think that the FAA may have something to say about UAVs flying at low altitude over residential neighborhoods. They could interfere with law enforcement and medical helicopters. They would be tempting targets for would-be thieves.

There are too many questions and too few answers to resolve this issue quickly.

No much aerial drones doing final delivery of parcels, but perhaps some means of moving parcels from 'hub' airports or terminals to intermediary staging facilities for local delivery personnel to reduce the deadheading back for another load of parcels for final delivery. Of course, more handling equals more chance for damage or loss of delay.

Would you want a drone crop dusting farm land or spraying chemicals over your downtown commercial areas or in residential areas?

Remember commercial drones are much larger than the one sold in most retail stores.

Also, the military used unmanned drones to fly over combat areas and to spy against our enemies.

Food for Thought?

I considered asking the Pentagon for close aerial support in my dispute with my neighbor.
I could say they housed ISIS fighters. But decided there's be too much collateral damage.

Talent312, I liked it . LOL. Please forgive an old man feeling about drones. I just saw to much. Ok. I am still LOL. Great idea because I have a neighbor who only cut their grass twice per month in growing season.
