I ordered a little something from Amazon. I knew which day it was supposed to arrive- no package. Next day, I was supposed to receive another one- no package.

I let a few days go by, still nothing. I ask my husband, and he alleges no packages arrived.

I check with UPS, or maybe it was Amazon.

Delivery info on package #1 states it was handed to someone at the house. And the delivery info on package #2 shows a pic of the package on my front porch.

Hmm, weird, so I tell husband UPS says they handed the package to someone at the house. "Oh yeah," he remembers, "Right when I was leaving the house, the UPS guy came, he handed me an oversized envelope and I brought it out to the car with me". Sure enough, my missing package was on the floor of the backseat of his SUV.

So I ask him if he's sure the other package never showed. He looks in he garage and there it is. He scooped it up when he got home one day and forgot all about it....

BTW, ask Alexa what is the best selling SUV.
The answer is that Amazon doesn't sell SUV's.

A<--->Z used to ring the bell or knock when they left something. Now, I just get the email and/or notice that something was delivered. The offspring sent a Ring camera. Now if I can just figure how to get it going and set up, there will be one less mystery around here.

Don't forget, you can always ask Alexa: "Where's my stuff?" You'll get a pretty accurate description.

Amazon drivers in our area often input into their system that "package was handed to resident", except they didn't. Our Ring doorbell video showed that no one came near our door on that day. No neighbors would come to us to hand deliver a mis-delivered package either. Driver was either indifferent in their delivery and handed it to someone down the street or just kept the package. We had to call Amazon and they would resend a package to us.

Another often that shows up in their system "package damaged and returned to Amazon". The driver got lazy and decided not to deliver that night and showed up the next day at our door. Amazon processed package as being returned and we got an automatic refund AND we still get our package.

We totally avoid using Amazon delivery and either pick a vendor who does direct dropship or if it is an Amazon fulfillment, we just have the package be delivered to an Amazon lockbox and we pick it up later.

I haven't seen a new Amazon driver yet. The Fed Ex people were going around behind the house setting off the alarms for a while which was annoying. Now we have UPS and they leave stuff down at the bottom step instead of in front of the door occasionally. The UPS people in my area are somewhat lazy, imo. We are waiting for some stuff that Amazon says will be here by 9. We will see.

I'm either going to be impressed or a little weirded out(maybe both) if Alexa answered "It's on the floor of the backseat of your DH's SUV" :D

It's all about the driver. I love it when I get the photo of my package. Not all will do that. I get packages almost daily without issues. However, there are times when I check tracking and it says "gate locked" or something like that. I don't have a gate. I think the driver just didn't finish deliveries by the end of their shift and had to come up with an excuse.

A couple months back, I had 2 packages that showed delivered but weren't here. The instructions on Amazon were to wait another 48 hours or so and then contact customer service. It was the first time in a while that I didn't have a photo or anything else that led me to believe they were actually delivered here. Started worrying about porch pirates..... when the magic day came that they would help me track it down, I called and the person on the phone was able to track it and she said it was delivered to the wrong address. She immediately sent out new ones and told me if they others ever showed up, just return them unopened. I got my new packages the next day. About a week after that, someone came to my house with my old packages and said she just returned from vacation and found my packages on her porch. She was apologetic that she had them so long, but had been out of town. I told her I got new stuff and then I just wrote return on the packages and left them at Postal Annex. It was more of a hassle than I expected out of Amazon, but they are hiring Amazon drivers every day (huge turnover in this area) and you just never know who you are going to get.

Its hit or miss in my experience. I had 2 deliveries scheduled on the same day. The first one rang the doorbell and posted the pic, I got a text before I could get to the door.

The second one I got the text that said handed to homeowner, hmmm I didn’t get it. Looked on the porch, nothing. I walked around the block, there was my package on the porch one block over, same house number, wrong street. I knocked on the door, nobody home. I took my package, hope their nest cam didn’t spot me as a porch pirate!

Wait until someone gets the idea they can shoot down drones with packages.
