Now this is the kind of common sense thinking I can get behind. Makes perfect sense to test before getting on an international flight. It is also a requirement for international travel into Canada. If some of these warm sunny destination islands take this lemon and make it into lemonade they would be making testing available onsite or centrally at reasonable cost or even including it in your all inclusive package. AKA convenient.

I see that AM Resorts is doing exactly what you suggest. Offering free testing on site as part of their package AND if a positive tests prevents you from boarding your flight, you can quarantine at their resort for up to 14 days FOR FREE!

A year later they implement this...... I’m sorry but that’s ridiculous.

A friend and I were just discussing this. Will it apply to charter flights and private planes?

Yes, it looks like it will. The new rule will also apply if a flight is just connecting in the US, even if the stopover is just an hour. Requirement for Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test or Recovery from COVID-19 for All Air Passengers Arriving in the United States | CDC

The good news is that so far it appears a rapid test will suffice for the US. Whereas the Canadian govt is only accepting a PCR test. Hopefully the US will allow the PCR as well so we wont need to get 2 different tests for our flight home (Belize-USA-Canada) in March.

I guess my question is, who is doing the policing? It says proof of a negative test must be provided to the airline. Does that mean when you board? Will TSA be involved? And if a plane is private are they held by the same guidelines?
