Where can I get more information on All Inclusive in Cancun?

When trading in, it seems like most are required. How can I search for non "All Inclusive" required resorts?

If we do trade into AI resorts, how do we know how much we would need to pay? How do we know what is included, not included?

I do not like AI resorts since you are locked into that resort and paying all the fees but I do not mind trying out if price is good.

Thank you.

Try researching Solaris/Royal Solaris. They have 2 or 3 AI in Cancun. They have been offering some real deals if you can go between now and December 15 without having to trade. Also Costco Travel has some great deals including airfare.

Wow.

Am I seeing this correctly?

4 nights for 4 people, $618? Is this total or per person? Seems like Total.....

Exchanging into an AI is often very expensive. The AI fees should be listed as you go through the booking process (but before you pay). You can see the fees disclosed on the II website. Quite often you will find it cheaper to book through a travel company in to an AI property in Mexico or the Caribbean.

If you exchange into an AI resort, or book a getaway via II, then in addition to exchange or getaway fees you also pay mandatory AI fees. They range from about $100 to $400 per person per day. Example:

Generations Riviera Maya by Karisma GKR

2br 4/4

Dec 19-26

$404 getaway price

$1,248 per night per unit mandatory AI

Total $9,140

You didn't write how you were searching, but if you are using RCI to search, there is a check box for non AI. Then, only non AI or AI not required units show.

Years ago, our family did the Palace Resorts a couple of times. We stayed at Beach Palace one time and Sun Palace another time. What we liked best was that you could go to any of them for a day. The Beach Palace is the smallest and very family oriented and closest to the downtown area. Cancun Palace was larger - lots of families there too, Sun Palace is now Adults only, and the Moon Palace is further south and huge with spaces for adults and another area more for families. Each resort has their own specialties and restaurants. The only thing that was the same at all was breakfast. The restaurants all had different decor and specialties. We loved going to different ones each day. These are pretty expensive. You can check out their website or travel agencies.
