My sister and I are heading to Kauai in Nov. I check Alaska Airlines periodically to see if our ticket price has dropped but I haven't expected much since both flights appear to be full. Today our tickets dropped $65 each, down to $560 (which is still more than I would like to pay). Such an odd occurrence. The flight shows every seat occupied so I don't understand this, but I'll take it.

That's definitely a nice unexpected surprise! You got me excited to check on my November kauai flights but they went up unfortunately. I still don't have an assigned seat on return either...

FYI...you can also use Yapta to automatically alert you for price drops rather than checking periodically.

Much easier and more reliable that you don't miss a window for a price drop.

Thanks for the reminder. I have used it in the past but I must have forgotten to set it up on this ticket.

lolol...just received my price alert from Yapta at 4:30 pm, pst - turns out that I did have it set up. Oddly the alert was only for $7 per ticket. I don't know if I just happened to catch the price at a low point this morning or what. Another crazy system that I can't quite figure out.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I was wondering if Alaska Airlines drops the fare do they return the difference to those that have purchased tickets prior to the price drop ?

Thanks
Bill

As mentioned above you get a credit for the fare difference to use for future flights.

From the Alaska Airlines website:
"We'll give you the difference in price as a refund/credit that can be used toward your next Alaska Airlines flight purchase"

We have used this option on several trips. This last year we got four difference credits totaling over $200. As long as you keep flying them it pays to watch the fares.
