Taxis go by zone from the airport, and VDP is in Zone 1. It's currently 195 pesos, or $14 or $15 US.

BUT, taxis may not be able to carry that many passengers. You may need a van, which is $390 pesos. Or two cabs, which is obviously the same.

Also, I saw a forum (elsewhere) post that said the zones and fares had changed, but the poster couldn't give details, and no one corroborated it.

Here's the most accurate info I've seen:

Don't be alarmed by the taxi cost. Only taxis leaving the airport cost this much. When you use the taxis around town, they are less, and so will be your return trip to the airport.

The exchange rate is between 10 and 11 pesos per dollar.
Actually, it is currently over 13 pesos per USD.

It makes those Mexican vacations look even better!

We have used Puertovallartatours.net for airport transfers. It is very reasonably priced private transfer to your hotel in a clean air conditioned vehicle. It saves the hassle trying to get a taxi, which at times has been time consuming. They are then when you arrive with a sign with your name on it and wisk you away without any problems. You pre-pay and book through their website. We have never had any problems with them.

Phone resort club for transportation

When are you going? You can call the resort main office in San Diego and arrange transportation from the airport and back.
It is a little cheaper than any you'll find at the airport and much easier. I'm not at home right now and I don't remember the phone number so can't post it, but when I get home on Tuesday, if noone else has already posted it, I'll look it up and post it.

You can definitely squeeze the family into one taxi (which can hold 4 adults w/ 3 squeezed in the back)....of course all your luggage will have to fit in the trunk....or sometimes there are roof carriers. I wouldn't let myself be double charged for a van.

Taxis charge by zone, and luckily you are closer to the airport than many places, so $15 US should be about right......If you dn't have pesos, there is an exchange at the airport which isn't too bad a conversion. Whatever the charge going, it will be only 60% of that price for the return.

Taxi?I

I think the taxis from the airport charge a PER PERSON fee. They are different than the "town" taxis. And I don't think you can fit that many people and all the luggage into one taxi. They do have van taxis but
charge more for those and you'd still have to pay per person from the airport, I think. We have always thought that the resort transportaion

was a little cheaper for us. You can walk outside the airport grounds
to the main street and get a "town" taxi but that has always been too
much trouble for us because we bring too much "stuff" as we come for
three or four weeks at a time.
