Looking to start planning a summer trip to Williamsburg and wanted to get an idea of airline tickets. I am looking for the airports in the general vicinity, would like to fly into a larger airport for schedule reasons. Please let me know also approximate drive time to Williamsburg. Thanks!!

There are three airports within a one-hour drive of Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony:

Newport News/Williamsburg - PHF - approx. 30 miles
Richmond - RIC - approx. 45 miles
Norfolk - ORF - approx. 50 miles

Although PHF is the closest, I've never had luck finding good fares.

Last time, we used RIC. It's a very nice airport.

Southwest serves ORF, so there's more fare competition. Although it's the longest drive of the three, you may be able to save enough on airfare to justify the drive.

None of these are "larger airports."

If you are looking for schedule and fare you should also consider:

Dulles - 2:45
Reagan National - 2:30
BWI - 3:00

You will also get the best deals on car rentals there.

You can also very easily fly in to Reagan, take the Amtrak to Williamsburg and get the rental car there.

MMC is on the western side of town and is only 45 minutes from Richmond tops. It can easily take that long to get to PHF and can be much longer with traffic. Norfolk could take an hour and a half or more with tunnel and I64 traffic.
