Advice on using pooled points

I just received my transfer of ownership acknowledgement & I am trying to book a trip to Myrtle Beach SC 4/8-4/15. I have 77k Fairshare Plus points & the vacation coordinator told me I would need 154k for 1 week & that for $39 I could use my points for 2010. I have heard about the last call specials & I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to get this week with out using my points for the next 2 years. The trip is over Easter weekend but I thought that most people have Spring Break in March. Is it too risky to wait 45 days until we leave & try for a special?

That's Easter Week, and so you might or might not get a points discount by waiting. Even if you do, it's unlikely to be much more than 25%. I don't think it's very likely.

You could wait unitl 90 days in advance of your trip, and rent the extra 77K from Wyndham, but it will cost you $8/K, or an extra $616. You could also rent from another owner, probably for less (around $400)---the ability to do so is scheduled to end this March, so you may as well take advantage of it while you still can. You can find owners willing to rent their points at
