We have a cruise from FLL in late January that leaves on a Sunday. I thought we should arrive a couple of days early as it is Winter, so I booked a couple of nights (Friday/Saturday - yikes - peak points!). Two main questions:

1. Right now, cruisers are not allowed in the boarding building until 11:30 or so,, likely later depending on your boarding time. Not sure what our boarding time will be yet as it is two far off, but it won't be earlier. (plus who knows what the conditions will be in January). Checkout time at resort is 10 AM.

  • Any experience with Beach Place Towers having luggage storage? If that is an option, we could ditch the big luggage and head over so some walkable restaurant for a Sunday brunch B4, picking the bags back at the resort and then heading over to cruiseport. (note we will not have a car). If I'm flush with cash I guess we could walk over to the Ritz C for brunch :)
  • If no luggage storage, our only alternative will be to head over to the cruiseport, drop off the luggage, and then head from there to a close by (to the port) restaurant. Looks like a diner in the area

2. Suggestions for "moderately" priced restaurants in the area. We are walking and my wife has a form of muscular dystrophy so I want to keep in within a reasonable distance. I'm going to be on a cruise for 12 nights so I don't need to overdue before we even get on :)

Never stayed here before and hope the area is safe. Thanks!

David

David, I haven't found a place yet that won't store your luggage for you. Easiest way to find out is to contact them directly.

Good advice! I seem to have an aversion for calling and asking for info :) Anyway, I did call them and they do have luggage storage, so that answers part of my query. Thanks!

Hi..I would talk to the front desk as soon as you check in..they have always been accomadating when we arrived early and had no problem holding our luggage…for a few hours..albeit 2 suitcases as well as an overnight bag…as far as a restaurant for brunch closeby..I would go to the Ritz Carlton next door..the food is good and not real pricey..and you can eat either inside or outside..we have eaten there and thoroughly enjoyed it

From Ritz website: Burlock Coast restaurant offers Prohibition era-inspired cocktails and farm-to-table cuisine in distinct settings,

We were at Beach Towers a couple of years ago and there was a daily special at the Burlock that was actually very reasonable... in fact ate there several times during our week. Really enjoyed eating at the tables overlooking the sidewalk and street-- fantastic people watching.

Absolutely on the money! It seems that there's a dinner special every weeknight at the Burlock, Monday is always their great, expensive hamburger with fries and a beer for $10. I never miss that one. I recall there's a taco night, I don't recall the others but the service, the food and the view are all terrific.
