Advice for a month in February in Florida

Hello -
I have someone that wants a month in February, in a 2 Bedroom, in southern Florida, in walking distance to the beach. Where does one look for one month rentals? I only have Wyndham, and don't feel I can offer any assistance. Any advice is appreciated.

Sandi ... if you don't have it booked with Wyndham 13 months to the day before checkin ... you won't be able to get it ever.

Usually, for what they WANT ... the owners of condos or bungalows rent either for 4 months or 2 months. Many condo building ONLY allow owners to rent ONCE per year - the other owners find the revolving door guests to be disturbing to them and cause excessive wear & tear. And the guests have to be PREAPPROVED by the Board of the condo.

As for costs .... think a 1960s basic rancher being sold as a "rehab" for $500,000 within 1 block to beach in Pompano.

Now, let's revise your friends plans ... think "shabby, chic condo (1bdr)" out by Palm Aire in the $2000 per month price range (my guess ONLY). And that is 6+ miles from beach .. February will/might cost MORE ... biggest demand month!

2nd thought ... try further NORTH ... north of Daytona & up to Jacksonville.

Where does one look for one month rentals?

I would point them at VRBO.

VRBO or any realtor. Coldwell Banker is really big around here and at most shore areas, but there are many to pick from.

I'd do a search for vacation rental agents in the desired areas. For example, you see the signs all over Anna Maria Island for a whole ton of snowbird rentals being managed by three or four agencies. It's definitely easier and usually less expensive there (and probably at most Florida beach communities) to just rent a condo/cottage/house than to try to put together multi-weeks in timeshares. And in some cases, it's timeshare owners who are placing their timeshare weeks with the local rental agencies.

If one had the points with Holiday Inn vacation Club system, they can make it work at there resorts like cape Canaveral. That is a perk with that system.
