Adding Resale Points to VIP Retail Points

Quick question:

If you have resale points and you purchase retail points to get VIP perks (purchase all 400K retail), do you get VIP perks on your resale points?

Example: Own 500K resale. Purchase 400K retail. Are you VIP with 900K points?

Not considering this AT ALL.....I like to pay $1/point better than $CrazyAmounts/point. Just wanted to know.

Yes
In your example
The new points won't change your VIP level from silver to gold but all points you get the same silver benefit

I don't think he gets VIP silver on resale points. He may get CWA on the resale, 500,000 IF, he bought it that way, but if not then no ARP. Or no 5 GC. Among other bennys

incorrect on both counts. ARP works the same whether resale or retail. And the points, while they won't count toward a different VIP eligibility level, will leverage the benefits of the VIP level afforded by the retail points (in this case silver).

Yes, you would be VIP silver which means you get room upgrades, discounts on reservations made within 60 days of travel, early checkin, etc. The VIP benefits seem to go with your Account rather than with any contracts under your account.

ARP is available to a contract whether you are VIP or not.

perhaps you misunderstood the question. The op assumes a siver account and is asking what happens if more points are added to it.

If someone is already a silver vip and they buy more points those points can be used for reservations and if those reservations are in the discount window they will be done at the 25% silver discount. The account gets the same 5 guest cert as every silver account (5)

resale points will not change your existing vip level

I have no idea what you mean with your CWA comment, or your ARP comment. ARP is not a VIP benefit.. everyone gets that at their home resort(s)

What exactly do you mean by "he may get CWA on the resale"? He'll get CWA if he bought a resale CWA contract.....

Yea I always tend to read into this, when all he asked was "do I get VIP perks on resale points" a simple no would] have sufficed.

While resale points get the benefits of your VIP status for the "foreseeable" future, you should be cognizant that this could change. Wyndham could some day roll out a resv system that fixes this "glitch" that allows benefits to apply to resale, and you would then be left with retail points to which VIP benefits apply, and resale points to which they don't.

But a simple "no" would have been an inaccurate answer. In his example, having purchased 400K retail points and 500K resale, he would see VIP Silver privileges applied to 900K points.

So your saying he can get a 25% discount on an upgrade during the 60 day window when he booked with his resale points? And use his GC, from retail, to use in his resale contract? What other VIP benifits?

If he were platinum, he could credit pool his resale points at 9 months, free upgrade, etc.

This is why many of us were confused why you would deed back your resale points when you bought retail up to VIP.

He said silver, why turn in resale? I am not interested in renting, wanted to control MF, I been on here for a short time, and the main reason why people want to rid themselves of there TS is MF. And the points I have will let me do as I set out to do. A balance between total points and MFs.

The original poster said the premise was based on silver. Ty1on responded with info based on platinum. I was responding to him. If your silver, in this situation, i stated that there are no VIP perks that resale points can obtain, or that transfer over. Then I stated why I gave back my resale, basically to reduce my MFs. You have to go back to original post to understand.

And you are wrong in your assessment. The silver benefits do extend to the whole account.

As to your personal situation it's just not relevant the op is asking about adding points you got rid of points

I used Platinum as an example, because Silver benefits are weak and provide fewer examples. However, Silver benefits, as sparse as they may be, are extended to resale points.
