My girlfriend and I just received confirmation that our SDO unit closing has taken place. It went on to say that the last step is for Starwood to acknowledge the transfer in their records. They say it can take up to 90 days to complete, but I'm hoping you could advise I can anticipate the process taking.

Cheers,
CJ

Did they send you a copy of the recorded deed, that has been stamped by the county recorder's office?

After the county records it, they send it back to the closing company, and the closing company is supposed to send you a copy and Starwood a copy.

In Starwood Owner Resources at the top of the forum, there is a link to the county recorder's office where you can check your deed online, and instructions for sending it to Starwood yourself to expedite the process.

Your closing company also needs to include a check for $25 to Starwoods for the transfer fee.

I did receive a copy of the recorded deed, but it's not stamped by the county recorder's office. The file was sent in PDF format.

I followed Denise's recommendation to check the deed online through the county's recorder office and was able to find it. I believe it said unofficial at this point though. Can I email the deed to the title department listed under Starwood Owner Resources?

Again, thank you all for your help.

CJ

You can, but it probably will not speed it up any since they still need the $25 transfer fee from the closing company to process it.

Do all resorts have a $25 transfer fee? I don't recall paying that with my last 2 resales.

No - SBP does not have any transfer fee, but SDO does. Those are the only two that I am sure of.

Sometimes (often) Closing companies charge a Resort Transfer fee that does not exist. None for WKV, WKORV or WSJ - officially

For SDO it was on the Starwood resale info sheet - $25 payable to Scottsdale Pinnacle Owners Association.
