A Travel Company Gutted a Regular Commercial Plane and Turned It Into a Fancy 52-Seat Private Jet - by Lindsay Silberman/ DuJour/ Travel/ Business Insider/ businessinsider.com

"The next time you fly commercial—say, on a transatlantic flight from the U.S. to Europe—imagine what it would be like to completely gut renovate the plane and bring it back to life as a luxurious private jet.

Well, that’s exactly what TCS World Travel did to its newly launched Boeing 757, which transformed from a 233-passenger commercial aircraft to a spacious 52-seat haven. Each passenger is treated to 6.5 feet of personal space and a lay-flat bed, custom mood lighting, global Wi-Fi, Bose headphones, iPads and Bulgari amenity kits.

And unlike flying on the aircraft’s commercial predecessor, passengers need not suffer through drab airplane food—there is (of course) an executive chef whipping up culinary delicacies like Kobe beef steak bites, caviar and cucumber canapés, sushi rolls, petit fours and more..."

Notice that they carefully fail to mention the tariff for that little jaunt to Europe with 51 of your closest friends. I don't relish those cramped little coach seats flying commercial, but somehow manage to spend the savings while on the ground.

I hope they do well enough to spawn a whole bunch of competition (but am not holding my breath). A fare war at this comport level would be hard to take.

Sure they did.

Each trip averages around 24 days, and prices start at $117,000 per person (based on double occupancy).

This isn't intended to replaced typical commercial flights that we utilize today. Context is key.

It is the tour bus for RICH people.

It really reminds me of the bus tour I did in England more than a few years ago. It had its moments like when a cluster of travelers "relocated" the PIA to the rear of the plane ... I meant bus .. everyone behind moved their 'stuff' up one row and then, as a group told the PIA she had always been sitting in the rear section.

"Bet relocations will occur there also".

Oh, I see. It's not available ala carte. You and 51 rich buddies sign on to trips of 3+ weeks and the plane/Four Seasons Resorts is the logistics. They make sure the 'guests' see just the highlights. Taj, Easter Island Moai, air conditioned safari, etc. etc.

Just between us, that isn't travel, experiencing a different culture with ALL your senses. It's sightseeing. Might as well be out of a big coffee table picture book.

Don't bother saving a seat for me.
