We had bought travel insurance with iTravelInsured through the Squaremouth website for a planned trip to Switzerland and Italy in September 2020 several months ago before anyone had ever heard of the Coronavirus. A couple of days ago we heard from British Airways that our return flight, which was leaving from Venice, had been cancelled. That started our process of cancelling the whole trip. British Airways agreed to refund all our tickets, not just the cancelled ones. We were able to cancel our Switzerland train tour with a small fee and refund of what we'd paid.

I called the trip insurance company asking for a refund of the premium we had paid as we would be making no claims on the policy and wouldn't be taking the trip. Today I got an email saying they were refunding the whole premium. What a relief!

It's sad to have to cancel the trip as we had been planning it for so long, but hopefully we can try again when things calm down.

Nice.

I called Allianz whose policy I purchased w/plane tix for similar circumstance, cancelled flights for upcoming Spain trip, and was told yes they would refund premium cost but they couldn't accomplish with the phone call - instead they told me who to email at Allianz. I haven't received anything, confirmation or otherwise, we'll see what happens, keeping my fingers crossed.

I also had to put my request in writing via email and I got my answer the very next day by email.
