We received an e-mail notice that our May 19th flight to Europe was cancelled (no big surprise there) and that a full e-credit good for 24 months would be placed in our account in the near future. I waited a week and checked my account (no e-credit yet) then called Delta to request a refund instead of an e-credit.

The customer service representative couldn't have been nicer, promptly looked up my ticket and confirmed that the full $$ that would be returned to the credit card that it was originally charged on "but it could take up to 30 days". I received an e-mail confirmation of the pending refund only a few minutes later.

For the heck of it I checked my CC today, only 4 days after this transpired and I have already received the $$ back!

Way to go Delta! When I'm able to fly again, Delta will be my first choice.

I got the same thing from Alaska Airlines. However the flight was cancelled, just changed. Offered me a credit, I said no I wanted a refund and bingo! it was done. I was told 7 10 10 business days. Got an email confirming that and 2 days later the money was back in my credit card account They also reinstated the companion pass, which is supposed to go away when you cancel a flight.

Kudos to those who waited for the airline to cancel or change.
Impatient, I cancelled myself. Hence, no refund; only a $-credit.
.

I just cancelled a flight with Jet Blue. But it wasn't until October and I'm not sure if they will be changing or cancelling that far out. I got the points back for one flight and I have a credit, good for two years, for the other. I'm hoping to be able to use that next year.
