Super interesting. The leader behind forensic genetic genealogy is a woman named CeCe Moore. I find her work so interesting.

Our sleepy suburb of Bay Village OH has a cold case from 1989 that's been featured on national tv. Amy Mihaljevik was lured by her murderer to a local shopping center under the guise of helping to buy a present for her mother. She was found dead in a rural field the next county over.
A recent report suggests that more DNA has been extracted from the drape used to wrap her body- hope it can lead to her killer.

And the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey is still unsolved.

Barbara Rae-Venter is a DNA crime solver. Her book about solving the Golden State Killer is an excellent read: I Know Who You Are: How an Amateur DNA Sleuth Unmasked the Golden State Killer and Changed Crime Fighting Forever.

“I’ll be gone in the dark” is another great book on the Golden State Killer if you haven’t read it

The increased ability to read fainter DNA plus these databases can lead to resolutions to many cold cases.
