Thomas Crown steals the Monet. We'll suspend disbelief about how he is able to take a painting in a fixed frame and have it magically fold in half inside a briefcase. And how he is able to slide under a gate into a hallway crowded without anyone noticing that he has just slid under a gate to join them.

Yeah, Hollywood is Hollywood. Anything is possible.

But I bought a large painting in Montmartre. I was too big and delicate to bring home with me on the plane. So, I pulled out the staples holding the canvas to the frame and then rolled up the painted canvas around the collapsed frame. When I flew home I was able to put it into the overhead compartment. When I got home, I took it to a place that does framing and they restretched the canvas. Voila!

In some movies where they steal a painting, they cut it at the edges of the frame. I can only guess how the painting could be restored after that.

Monet? Yes, I love his paintings. We have three computer generated reproductions of his paintings. The computerized paintings even included the brush strokes.

Another bit of trivia - - I actually touched one of Monet's paintings.

Was just at the Musee D'Orsay yesterday where I saw their Monets and earlier this week I was in Giverney to see his house and gardens. I'd never been to either of those places before. His Japanese bridge on his lily pond is unrecognizable, covered in wisteria. Really enjoyed both visits, neither was too crowded.
