55+ Communities

Our once older-age neighborhood is now teeming with young families and their children, many of whom think screaming is a game. I like kids (have 3 older ones myself), but as I get older, I'm growing fonder of peace and quiet. If you live in a 55+ (age-restricted) community, how do you like it?

We just moved to an age restricted condo community in Greenacres, FL (Lake Worth Area). There are rentals as well as units for sale. There is 4 sections and one of them #3 does allow children. We are in #4, no kids 55 and over, we love it here. We have a 2 bedroom 2 bath with screened lanai. Large living/dining area but the kitchen is very small. Ground are beautifully maintained. There is a large heated pool and hot tub. Club house with lots of stuff going on for those who want to do it. You can be as active or inactive as you please. We also have tennis court, bocci ball and shuffle board. Lots of shopping nearby and good medical facilities. If you want more info please PM me.

We live in Sun City HHI and love it. We have the best neighbors and friends in the world and so many activities. We had no idea of our life style when we moved here. We just wanted to be near the beach. Now we have to schedule beach time as our calendars are full. Children may visit 90 days a year and there are pool times for the kids. We love meeting families of our neighbors and find ways to volunteer in the community for more contact with younger people.

folks moved to the villages (ocala fl area) a few years ago....absolutely love it there.

Like Janette, I also live in SCHH. I love it. I don't miss having kids or the noise around. It's those old people on their bikes and golf carts that drive me crazy.
