We were at GV Thanksgiving week and thought that this was a little weird. We Own a 2 br and when I reserve my week I was given the option of a dedicated 2 br or a 2 br with lockoff. The weeks available were different based on which option I chose. I picked a dedicated 2 br unit since no lock off units were available for Thanksgiving week. When we arrived we were put in the master portion on a 3 br unit. Has this ever happened to anyone else? At OP we always lockoff the studio of our 3 br and always end up in the 3 br master, never a dedicated 2 br.

We were at GV during the same time. We own a 2BR lockoff and we were put in a dedicated 2 BR in building 85. It worked out for us because we have younger kids and didn't want them trying to exit the room in the lock off studio side.

I assume they were putting people in dedicated 2 BRs that needed the actual 2 BR and not lock off units to max on the number of reservations they could fill during that time. (e.g some people may only needed a 1 BR and some just needed a studio so they locked off to accommodate those folks)

The resort has a lot of flexibility in how it can allocate guests among units. So while you may have confirmed to a dedicated 2BR it is possible that they could place you in a 2BR lock off or 2BR side of a 3BR unit. You can call a couple weeks before checkin and request just about any configuration.

I know that we stayed in a 2BR side of a 3BR lock off and I just checked our history on II and see that we have always been confirmed in to ZZAA which is a 2BR lock off unit. So what happened to you, happened to us also. Though yours was an owner reservation and not an exchange.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the dedicated 2bd part of a 3 bd unit always has 2 queen beds in the second room, and the 2bd lockoff has a king and a sofa bed in the studio.

I believe that is correct. I know that's how our room was configured: 2 queen beds in 2nd room.

Correct, the same as the dedicated 2BR units, except that the unit layout is different.
