Fund for a Sustainable Baja California Sur

Travelers from around the world have come to know and love the people and places Baja California Sur has to offer, and we consider it both our privilege and responsibility to support the destination’s sustainability.

In keeping with this mission, the government of Baja California Sur through the Secretary of Finance has established the Fund for a Sustainable Baja California Sur with the goal of raising millions of pesos each year to support the ongoing development of sustainable infrastructure in the destination. This payment is for the betterment of local communities, as well as for investment in local resources enjoyed by the millions of travelers who visit the destination every year. As such, all international visitors must make a one time payment of $ 350 Mexican Pesos to the Fund.

We thank you for your continued support.

When and where do they collect this? Will we get charged at each resort when we stay in different ones for different weeks on one trip?

We just flew home from Cabo today and we were told by the Alaska rep that this is a voluntary contribution. If one would like to do so you make it toward the end of the terminal. That must be correct as nobody said otherwise as we went through security, etc.

Best regards.

Interesting. The link says it is mandatory, but if it's not being enforced .....

Website says you can pay on-line, or there are kiosks at the airport. Website also says it is one-time, but how will they know that you may have paid previously or on-line? What about cruise ships?

Right now it is a voluntary contribution. Of course, that may change in the future.
