I'm looking at 3 bedroom units in Williamsburg for mid September. My choices seem to be King's Creek Plantation or Wyndham Governor's Green. The group should be son/wife/1 year old and 2 sets of grandparents. Any recommendations?

One vote for Governor Green the size of their villas rooms are very spacious.

Great location to some great restaurants and shopping malls.

Both of these resorts King Creek & Governor Green are very nice and both grand parents would enjoy either. As stated by Big Matt the three bedroom unit at King Creek villas could give one set of grandparent complete private. The Estates at King is the newer section at King Creek and very nice.

I would also suggest you read TUG's Resort Database to read some reviews on all three resorts.

Enjoy your stay in Colonial Williamsburg.

The 3BRs at Kings Creek are going to be one of two configurations. In the cottages where you will literally have a whole cottage. The third bedroom is very small, but could be perfect for one set of the grandparents. In the Estates, you will have a four bedroom house with three entrances. The first opens to the right half which is a dedicated 2BR with two stories having the living area on the first floor. It will lock off with the bottom floor of the left side and have a separate outside entrance. The final bedroom is up the stairs from the first floor on the left side and has a third entrance.

I personally liked the Estates very much when staying there.

Governors Green is fine also. I've not stayed there, but done a tour.

Ok, I understand the system, shove the grandparents in the small room. Does that count when the grandparents own the timeshares?

Governors Green would be all on one floor. Elevators up to the 2nd and 3rd floor units. 2 King bedrooms and the third has 2 double beds. The Living Room is very large. You only on the days you use. I am not sure if the outdoor pools zero entry and kiddie pools would still be open in September. The indoor pool is small. Nothing other than the resort itself is within walking distance so you will need to get in the car to go everywhere but most Williamsburg attractions are within 10-20 minutes.

The cottages at King's Creek are 2br/1br lockoffs. The 1br side is small, but the bedroom is decent-sized and there's a good-sized bathroom. It's the living room/kitchen dining room that is really small.

When we stayed with four teenagers, my DH and I stayed on the 1br side and we liked that there was a locking door between them and us! For meals and conversation, we went on the 2br side, where there's a large kitchen and dining room and a large living room and TV set.

I think that the owner should be hospitable and give out the rooms however they see fit. Not sure about the grandparent reference.

In your situation, if you did take a cottage at King's Creek, I would take the 1br side for you and your wife and your baby. Then you and your wife can have privacy, and the baby can sleep in the living room of your unit. When you want coffee and breakfast you can go over to the 2br side if the baby is sleeping.
