my 2019 points saved into 2020, I can confirm have been saved into 2021.

I don't know what happens you cancel something that was already booked, do those points go back to 2021 or do you have to make a call to make that happen.

Good data point. I have 2019 banked points that are in a Sept reservation that I will likely cancel. Hope it will be automatically banked at the end of the year.

Last month HGVC cancelled my 29APR2020 stay at the Bay Club booked with 2019 club points that had been saved to 2020, and these points were refunded to Saved Club Points - 2020. Noticed last night they have been moved to Saved Club Points - 2021.

THE title is a bit confusing as I guess it should read "2019 Saved points have now been moved to 2021" inasmuch as any 2020 saved points (for which we currently have to pay) are, by definition, moved to 2021. My first thought upon seeing the title was that they were now moving 2020 points to 2021 for free :)

Cheers.

I have 2019 points for an RCI excahange into NYC. I've been playing the waiting game. If I cancel now I lose the fee and pay a fee to save my points in RIC or I wait for the 30 day mark and hope it's not open so I can get my fee back then pay to save the points. Trying to decide if it's worth waiting for the 30 day mark.

When is your reservation? The TS does not have to be closed for RCI to refund the fee/points, it just has to be within a cancellation window they are allowing. RCI is currently letting you cancel anything through 6/15 with a full refund of points and fees .... the TS does not have to be closed.

I'm a bit confused. After canceling a reservation, I now have some available points saved from 2019.

Screen Shot 2020-05-17 at 4.53.53 PM.png

As you can see, there is a category of Saved by Hilton Club Points - 2020/21 which is showing zero. The only place the points saved from 2019 are showing up in in the circle at the bottom representing my 2020 points. (Subtract the 4260 2020 points from the 11,785 total and you get the 7525 points saved from 2019.)

Do I need to call to have these points available for a reservation in 2021??

I did book in 2021 (after this screen shot) and it used my 2021 points.

@JohnPaul I have the same issue with bHC points cancellation. I do have a copy of the cancellation which also shows the saved points. I will call tomorrow and see what they say.

Today they said my 2019 saved to 2020 points would be moved to 2021 “in a couple weeks”.

Yes they confirmed it was a manual operation to move the points to 2021. They pointed out that there would be little reason to use these banked points in 2020 because we have 2020 points to be used prior to these banked points which will now expire in 2021.

Problem is until the manual movement to 2021 occurs you cannot book 2020 points because the banked 2020 haven't been shifted and it will pull from that bucket instead. I am in no rush to book 2020 but could be a problem for some.

I called beck today and got credit for a future RCI reservation for my fees and the points were returned to my 2020 points bucket. I didn't have to deposit them into RCI.

But what if you'd used 2019 points?
Posters in another thread who used 2019 points reported having to deposit them to RCI.

I did use 2019 points but when the rep said he would put them back into 2020 I didn't disagree. I figured HGVC pushed them to 2020.

It probably does not matter since my 2019 points that I saved into 2020 and then used for a 2020 reservation (which was canceled) are now showing as 2020/2021 Saved points, but when I just tried to make a new 2020 reservation it is taking the points from my regular 2020 Club points bucket instead of using the Saved bucket first. Does it really matter since any remaining 2020 points will also at some point be saved to 2021 as well so both will eventually have the same 2021 use-by date? I am just used to the system using Saved points first so I just want to make sure I don't miss out on using the points saved from 2019 before I finalize the reservation.

Since your points are effectively saved to 2021 now, the system would not pull them to make a 2020 reservation.

I canceled a 2020 reservation that used saved 2019 points AFTER they did their April move. Supposedly they will move them to 2021 at some point but still waiting.

Under this scenario, a reservation made later this year should pull any available 2020 points first and then borrow from 2021 starting with saved points next.

As a variation on this: typically saved points from a given year can't be pulled back to make a reservation, AFAIK. So, 2020 points saved to 2021 can't later be pulled back for a 2020 reservation. This year, however, those of us who did the early, discounted payment for end-of-year point saving for leftover points found that, instead of waiting until the end of the year, they were moved immediately.

If later making a 2020 reservation, one could argue that they should be willing to pull back those 2020 points saved to 2021 rather than borrowing 2021 points since they preemptively saved them forward.

We are considering going to Vegas at some point before the year ends to use up some of our glut of points and of WN travel funds. I should be able to call and get the to un-bank the points because of this. We shall see.

Cheers.

I saved all of the 2020 points to 2021 with the march discount, and was able to make a reservation in 2020 after that. As a matter of fact I made quite a few reservations using all the 2020 and 2021 points, and all of the reservations says that the points were borrowed from 2021. Right now I only have about 400 points left in 2021.

I own with both Hilton and Vistana and Have punted my options and points into next year. I think we need to look at this in perspective, if the systems are clogged up due to 2020 points being used in 2021, I would love to have that problem. That means the economy is somewhat recovering and most importantly, people aren’t dying in record numbers from this pandemic.
That being said, I totally forgot about HH conversion. I bought Hilton developer and Westin resale, and I remember that the conversion was something disgusting like 1:25... is that correct?

Oh, I'm not at all surprised that that is what happened as that is how it's supposed to work. However, since they preemptively moved our 2020 points to 2021, the normal policy puts us at a disadvantage of their causing. If we do make a 2020 reservation, it will borrow 2021 points. That will leave the saved 2020 points there, and these cannot be saved again while the native 2021 points could. So, by them changing the procedure (with no notice that I could see), they have created a disadvantage.

So, I'd expect to be able to argue to use the 2020 points back here in 2020 since they created the issue.

Cheers.

I haven't saved my HGVC points in about 4 years or so. But when I did, HGVC computer system would always use saved points first. Maybe it has changed?

In the DVC system, banked (saved in HGVC parlance) points can only be used in the next year for DVC reservations. With DVC you have to borrow points from future year, to use in current year, if you banked your points to next year.

Saved points can only be used for reservations made within 6 months of occupancy. A few years ago I had saved points and was making a reservation in January for a July stay. I was told that I could not use saved points, but would have to use current year points since my request was for more than 6 months in advance. I said find, I'll call back later. I waited a couple of weeks and then called and made the reservation within the six months window. That may not be that easy with all the folks with 2020 points moved into 2021.
