Hey guys. My wife and I went to the presentation Monday and were completely sold on the idea of a vacation package. We want to take our kids to Disney in March of 16 and thought this would get us there. We didn't by on spot cause we didn't have the down payment but the offer we agreed to come back to was 6000 biannual points 2 weeks of RCI for 6 years for free with a 209 week fee and 2 free plane tickets. For $8000

So I have a couple question for your guys.
Is this a good deal? Can I get more points out of them?
Does anyone know how the bluegreen points work for airfare and other stuff?
Do you guys think we will be able to get a room to a Disney property with about 5 months notice?

I didn't have a lot of question at the time. It was very exciting and overwhelming with the pitch. I'm just not sure we should do it. Help guys. Thanks.

What you want to look at is the 6000pts going to take you to disney in march, you need to buy a package that gives you enough points

This will avoid future dessapointments into the club since most people that buy bi anual points feel limited

I am a very happy BG owner but......6,000 EOY is not going to go very far.
In order to trade into Disney Vacation Club or any Florida property thru RCI you need 11,000 BG points for a 1BR and 18,000 for a 2BR plus $209 exchange fee.

Bluegreen has two very nice properties in Orlando The Fountains and Orlando Sunshine. To stay in a 2 BR for 7 days is between 9,000-18,000 BG points depending on time of year.

So even with two years worth of points, you don't have enough points for these stays.

The RCI weeks for $209 that they are talking about are most likely last call weeks that all RCI members have access to. RCI yearly membership is included for all BG owners paid for by your yearly Club Dues. Can not speak about the airline tickets.

The short answer is do not buy from the developer. Step back, do some research online and then decide if BG is for you. For a family of 4, a more realistic number of BG points is 15-20,000 points per year in order to do one weeklong vacation and 1-2 shorter stays.

Thanks for the help guys. Just a couple more questions I guess.
Do you have to do a whole week? Or could we buy 4 days with the 6000 points?
And with RCI you can't just go anywhere anytime with that 209 a week charge?

I'm feeling ver deceived since I've sat around thing about it and finding this site with other people experiences. The sales tragic they used really connected personally with us. And now I feel like it was all just a scam. But we still really like the idea of having a vacation plan.

So another question. We don't want to be stuck going the same place all the time. What do you guys recommend for a vacation plan?

Slow down, sit back, and relax.

A good salesman will read you like a book and tell you what you want to hear. TS sales people get paid on commission so no sale, no pay.

You just dodged a bullet.

I think Bluegreen is a very good system, not the best for everyone but very flexible with a lot of resorts.

I've been studying them for a while now and won an ebay auction for 13,000 ponts with a years use for $700 so I think you got a lousy deal from BG.

There is a lot to learn about them but if you do a forum search you will some recent questions I asked and the answers. This would be a good starting point for you.

If you joint the facebook group "Bluegreen timeshare secrets" you can get some good info also.

geo, I've been a happy BG owner for 15 years and absolutely one of the best parts is partial week stays. There are resorts you could have a whole week for 6000 pts depending on unit size and season but 6000 gets you farther if you avoid the "pricey weekends" and use bonus time ($) for it.

RCI - anywhere anytime is not possible. However, RCI is a very large provider. With all things timeshare, flexibility is your friend because "subject to availability" is a constant. Prime time in prime locations will always require significant advance planning and sometimes still fail. However, sometimes cancellations happen and you luck into exactly what you want.

I, personally, stay in BG network as much as possible to avoid exchange fees. One of the best things about BG is that after your maint fees and club dues, there isn't out of pocket unless you want there to be. You are not confined to one place all the time. Book whatever, whenever, so long as you have the points and a unit is available.

Consider how valuable Bonus Time is to you as how you purchase determines your level of bonus time - all resorts or only your owned resort. You can get a lot more mileage out of few points if you supplement with Bonus Time. If BT is restricted to only where you own, make sure it's a place you wouldn't mind as your standard getaway after points are exhausted.

Bonus nites are always unlimitted to any resort it comes with the Charter Benefits. Make sure you understand that Charter is Charter and the the have premier level which start at 15000 pts, 20000pts, 35000pts and then plantinum. But all first time buyers get charter.

First time buyers FROM DEVELOPER get charter. Not so with resale.

Yes unless you buy through pinnacle

Not necessarily! Your points from Pinnacle must cost you at least $1.25 per point and there is a minimum dollar amount to spend to get the charter benefits through them. Don't hold me to this but I think I read the minimum amount is $2,500.

And remember, Pinnacle is a part of BG so you are buying from BG when you use them.

Yes and no they are Bxg but you are still paying less then than what you would pay from the office direct.Which means if charter like TP is important then you are still ok

I'm a BlueGreen owner and we absolutely love it! We are thinking about adding to our points through the resale market. I am dabbling with renting points out to see how easy or difficult it is. If I am successful, we will buy a bunch of resale points, rent enough to cover the maintenance fees, and enjoy some pretty awesome vacations!

I haven't found swapping blue green points for airfare, cruises, etc to be worth it. But I could certainly rent some time out and use THAT money to cover the other expenses associated with vacations.

Feel free to IM me if you have any questions about bluegreen ownership.
