Hi, :)

I'm about to purchase another TS unit at the Aruba Ocean Club.

A 2BD Oceanfront.

My question is:
I know that the Oceanfront 2BD units are on the end of the U shape building. (see picture)

But are the units at the lower floor(s) also considered Oceanfront as well?

If I'm not mistaking the lowers Surf Club Oceanfront units are not considered Oceanfront.

Not sure about the Ocean Club, but ALL of the Surf Club front facing units are considered oceanfront. The old color coded diagram is out of date. I questioned this when I purchased an OF unit a year and a half ago as I had received some information that conflicted with the diagram. The bottom floor was re-designated from Oceanside to OF when the buildings and pier were moved. They were originally designated OS because of the obstruction, but once those buildings were moved, there were no obstructions and all became OF.

Edited to add: I'm jealous of your purchase. Hope you are getting a great deal.

Ingrid

Thanks Ingrid, I wasn't aware of this change at the SC.

As for a great deal, let's say that I'm eager to see what the ROFR results will be... ;)

Yes, floors one thru 6 are considered oceanfront - as an owner, I would not be happy to get a first floor unit, all the rest are fine.
As an exchanger, I would be happy anywhere :cheer:

I would never buy, or even rent, an Oceanfront unit at Ocean Club b/c of the risk of ending up on the Southwest corner (the bottom of the U on the right when standing on the beach looking at OC) where you may as well stay in Moomba Beach Bar located south of OC.
That's where we ended up last year. The noise was constant. Boom! Boom! Boom! Right into the master bedroom the entire week. Moomba Beach Bar music goes on until well past midnight. And, in the morning, you get the music from the OC pool water aerobics class.

But isn't there the Surf Club between the Moomba Bar and the OC?

The music volume from Moomba is unbelievable and it carries right over to OC.

What's the difference...owner/exchanger/renter?

If you ended up where we did at Ocean Club ( SW Oceanfront corner), you would not be happy.
Nobody on that corner was happy.

I agree, the noise from Moomba is something I hope will be addressed at some point as it's been getting worse....but I don't think the ASC has much sway over that bar so my hope may well be in vain.

However, one thing the ASC does have control over is the ridiculous (IMO) morning exercise class they run between the volleyball court and the ASC twice a week complete with banging music. I believe it moves to the OC for a couple of days as well and I assume it's not much fun for residents there either. I'm all for providing activities to keep vacationers happy/occupied etc... but when residents of the resort are adversely affected by an activity the resort itself is providing then it's probably time to review the arrangements.

Dock,
I know. In the morning, the music from that water aerobics class was incredibly loud at the Ocean Club pool...it blasted right up onto our balcony & into our villa. We called the front desk about it the first morning. They said there was nothing they could do!

We called the Ocean Club front desk numerous times throughout the week about the constant nightly loud music from Moomba.
Again, they said there is nothing that they can do. Wouldn't you think that Marriott, a big corporate tax payer in Aruba, could work out something w/ Moomba and the Aruba government about this?

Are the units not in the red box 1BR's?
