There's a new thread on the Starwood board about a new tax proposal for Maui timeshares. I'm not an owner there but I try to watch for these things because there were beginning rumblings about something similar for Hilton Head timeshares last year. (Don't think anything developed there.) You Maui owners might want to keep an eye on the 4/11/12 Council meeting.

Another heads-up from that same Starwood thread - another Council meeting is scheduled for Friday, 4/20/12. Here's TUGBrian's post in that thread about ARDA-ROC support.

There is a county council meeting on Friday April 20th 2012 at 9am at the Maui county council building and all residents or timeshare owners in town are urged to attend.

This stuff makes me crazy.

Are there any tuggers at Maui Ocean Club this week who can attend the meeting?

Admittedly, this is not the preferred kind of vacation activity, but it is an important topic.

Hundreds of owners are at Maui Ocean Club this week. Wouldn't it be impressive to see a huge crowd show up en-masse at the meeting to vocalize their resentment at this kind of taxing abuse?

TUGger Syed's Post #65 in that Starwood thread is a report from yesterday's Council Meeting. It's great that Syed is there to participate, he's a strong advocate and a personable, knowledgeable speaker. Nice job! I also was glad to learn from his report that a couple Marriott reps were there along with reps from several other timeshare systems. (Again, I'm not a Maui owner but I think this sort of thing could happen anywhere. I like that we can be prepared through TUG.)
