Tuggers,

I just called Grand Chateau to check on the start of the construction and I was told it was pushed out until May. We will be arriving there on March 30th and wanted to make sure we were placed in the tower that would be furthest away from the new construction. They also stated the construction would start "in the middle" so the room location may not even matter when trying to get away from the noise.

You can build a TOWER, starting in the middle? Wow - I must have slept thru THAT Physics class . . . I know there are levitation magicians in Vegas, but THAT would be spectacular!

Betcha that come May, it will get *pushed* again - or they will be some *playing with your food* type of dirt-moving, and then - nothing much. I do not think they are *obligated* to build here, like they are in some other places - that is why my sales guy told me last year.

We will be there first week of April so very happy. We lived through the noise of the City Center, which was a distance away and still bothersome. So, glad we will not have this issue on our trip.

Maybe they've altered the plans so the MGC will be a three tower building like a Y instea of a four tower building like an X, thus, the third tower will be in the "middle".

Interesting news. We were there 2 weeks ago and the sales person said they would start the tower in mid March.

Hey Steve,

Looks like we will be out there during the same time. This will be our first visit to the Marriott in Vegas and really excited because this is one of our home resorts we picked up on resale in December.

I just wanted to pass on the word to folks that have upcoming trips over the next few months so that you can try to plan around the fabled construction.

According to Marriott's website, the construction for Tower 3 started on June 1.

This place needs a normal pool so bad! Hope they r building one soon

A better pool would get me to visit more often. What were they thinking??

The plan has a new pool deck beween towers two and three. While it's never going to have resort style pools that many of the new Marriott's have, it will have a nicer, larger, rectangular pool. If memory serves me correctly there will also be a couple of gas grills, a pool bar and there was at one time a plan for a lobby bar/grill when the square footage of the lobby was increased with the final two towers being built. There was also a plan to make the units in the new tower different from the original towers. As it was explained to me (by a salesman), those who owned in the original towers would not be able to reserve in the new towers (and vice versa) unless they did an exchange.

At this point I'm not sure what is still planned or how the original plans have been changed. I'll just be impressed if they ever complete towers three and four and get a decent pool deck built.

It will be interesting to see if this new pool will be the zero entry version. They may have no choice but to build a zero entry pool in light of the current Handicap Access rules and regulations.....

I know an additional pool at MGC is long overdue.

My bet is that it will be a standard pool with a lift chair for ADA compliance instead of a zero entry pool. While it will be a better pool, it's still going to be on the smallish side. Maybe zero entry pools don't take up as much space but it seems to me that with the limited space, it might not be as practicle.

I was at GC last October. They had a model in the lobby of the completed 3rd tower, including the new pool. I forget what it looks like. Does anyone have a photo or a link to what it will look like?

We were at MGC in Mid March and construction on Towers Three and Four is clearly underway. They are pouring the back half of the parking structure that is the first four floors of the building. I asked the valet parking staff how they were going to handle twice as much traffic, as the Porte Cochere gets crowded often now. I was told that there will be an additional entry to the garage on the alley (south side) of the building between towers two and three. (Under the garage and new pool deck) I asked if it would maybe be a self parking option and he didn't know.

Tower three is about 1/2 up. They are also doing the base work for tower 4, but that won't be constructed yet (or at least hasn't been announced). They will look exactly like towers 1 & 2 as that is the design.

The new pool is in the parking garage roof area between towers 2 & 3 sorta facing Polo Towers / MGM. It isn't that large of an area so it likely won't be that much larger than the existing small pool, but at least it will be a second option (and perhaps the existing one will become adults only. That would be a plus).

The forced Valet parking is a bit of a pain. I'd like to see a self park option.
