I am in the middle of closing a timeshare purchase from that seller. I have no complaints about the seller - he has been very good with communication.

HOWEVER ... this seller chooses to use Pacific Transfer for his closing company. Unfortunately, that closing company has been a nightmare to deal with.

See this thread for more information: http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156879

If you choose to buy from selltimeshare.org I would make it clear that you want to specify your own closing company. There are several closing companies that come highly-recommended here on tugbbs. There is no need to put up with the delays and frustrations associated with Pacific Transfer.

They charge $385 for closing and my guess is that they get a kickback from this Pacific Transfer firm, just like most of the Ebay sellers.

Even if you have to pay more in closing costs, it would be worth it to avoid dealing with Pacific Transfer.

Any Recent Experince buying from SellTimeshare.org?

SellTimeshare.org (ebay name: SellTimeshareorg and SellTimeshareDotOrg)

has a listing I am interested in.

But, the postings here on Tug have been more negative than positive.

Has anyone had any recent experience buying from this outfit ?

They use a closing company called Pacific Transfer

Maybe no choice in the matter...

While I certainly do not disagree with your stated position, the fact is that many eBay sellers overtly require the use of one (and only one) specific "closing" entity. Many make this fact abundantly clear in their listings. In such instances, if the winning bidder / buyer chooses to proceed, it then becomes "luck of the draw" as to whether or not the mandatory "closing" entity is actually competent or efficient. Many are neither.

I am in the process of an SDO purchase. So far no issues. The seller was good with communication and provided the estoppel quickly. The closing company (Pacific Transfer) uses Docusign for the documents - no issues there. I've emailed them about the free 2012 usage and they have offered to reserve a week for us. Since then I have received three automated emails letting me know the deed was sent for recording, followed by an email stating that the deed was recorded, then another email indicating that the information has been sent to Starwood. So far total elapsed time is about three weeks. We'll see soon if everything has been done accurately.

Since my total out of pocket was $50, I was willing to give them a chance despite the negative reviews on TUG. I will be following up on the details myself (double checking the deed and the transfer information). I will be sure to update here if anything goes wrong.

I may give them a try (risking small $ only)

I have had good experiences buying from the Big ebay sellers ( like VIN ) and have had a bad experience buying from an ebay seller with little feedback (sale fell apart and bad communications)

I guess I may be willing to risk a few dollars, since they have exactly what I want

These folks at Pacific Transfer are the pitts!

As was posted, these eBay Sellers (PCCs) won't let you choose your closing company. If you want the timeshare bad enough, you just have to suck it up and go with Pacific. I will know next time, and factor this into the equation before bidding.

I was pretty pleased at first, but now this is dragging on and the check-in for my week is less than two weeks away and the resort can't complete the transfer due to the errors Pacific keeps making.

The communication was good at first with emails on status. The deed was recorded fairly quickly. At that point, I gave positive feedback. I was too hasty.

When I contacted the resort to check on the transfer, they indicated that they should have received a copy of the death certificate for one of the previous owners. I emailed the company and didn't get any response back. I then called and was transferred to the "Buyers side." The person was helpful, got back to me when he said that he would and the death certificate was faxed to the resort. Great! I gave the resort about 10 days before I inquired on the status, which was this past weekend. Nope, can't be transferred because they put the wrong State on the deed. It's in Virginia, not North Carolina. Oh, boy; no way to get this deed re-recorded and back to the resort for the transfer to be completed. I called Pacific just now. The person, again, was helpful and indicated that they would have the deed re-recorded with the correct State. I now have to call the seller to get them to make me a reservation. We'll see how that goes.

Wish you luck, hopefully the owner of record can get you the reservation or in the alternative, the closing company pays the maintance fees for the lost week due to their error. If they are licenced there may be and errors and omissions policy that may come into play.

I think it's important to not give positive feedback to an Ebay seller until the resort management confirms to you over the phone that it is in your name, that all fees are paid, and you can make or change a reservation. It the transfer doesn't happen in a reasonable period of time or if things are not going well, I think you should tell the seller you're going to give negative feedback unless they get it done, and if it doesn't happen, give them negative feedback. This will do more to get the transaction done than anything else you can do. Most Ebay sellers will do almost anything to avoid negative feedback. It's amazing that bad Ebay sellers have so much positive feedback.

I've given this exact same advice myself here on TUG; and failed to follow it.

I should have known better. I hadn't bought from this reseller before, and that alone should have made me cautious. I have an email into the seller and he hasn't responded yet. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow, I will try calling. Fortunately, there's not a lot of money involved, but I did pay for the maintenance fee and, as such, want use of this week. Though I failed by giving feedback prematurely, I will mention this thread on TUG and how it could affect some future sales if need be. It might not make too much of a difference if this is a crappy seller, but it could if this seller is genuine and wants to maintain the future patronage of TUGGERS who see this thread. Who knows.

I thought that Yumdrey said that you could update eBay feedback? I'm not sure if it was only from neutral to positive though.

I looked it up and I don't think that you can change a positive feedback, but you can add a "follow up" message.

I'm beginning to loose enthusiasm for trying to make a purchase from this seller.....I'll see how my bidding on the auction works out and then take it from there

While my transactions with these companies were slow, I got what was promised with no complaints.... If you look back at my previous threads you will see my comments and concerns and then how it worked out... Dave

States office hours are 9-6 M-F; all I get is a generic voice mail

Thank you. I usually pay by credit card. I'm going to look and see if that was the case on this one. If all else fails, I can dispute the charge also. Nope, paid by eCheck. Another learning experience for sellers that I am not familiar with and that have less than stellar feedback. Yikes, I know better.

Yeah, I'm watching a couple of auctions of theirs. I have an interest. Maybe I'll place a winning bid and get their attention that way. Use that as leverage, though this is not how I prefer to handle things. I will probably just dispute with my credit card if I don't get use of the week. No dispute avenue with the credit card company. I have to question myself; "what was I thinking?"

There's 11 days to go to get what was promised. Right now my emails aren't being responded to and I can only get a generic voice mail when I call their phone number. Pacific Transfer insisted that the seller has to make the reservation. I'll definitely report back if this is resolved......or not. Magic1962, do you have any contact number other than the one listed on their auctions (♦ (877)973-5548 toll free)?

I wouldn't be surprised if the seller and closing company are virtually one and the same. A lot of the Ebay sellers make a big part of their money on overpriced closing costs.

I contacted Matt through another one of selltimesharesdotorg's auctions

I linked this thread and asked specific questions about assistance after the sale if there were problems. Matt responded that he had placed me on the reservation and was awaiting a confirmation from the resort. I was checking the land records website where this timeshare is located about another ownership and saw that a corrected deed had been filed for this timeshare. Matt said that he was aware of this thread.

I will call owner services tomorrow to verify my use. As I told Matt in my email, this is my first dealings with his group and Pacific Transfer. Pacific has made errors, but they have been responsive when I have called and followed through to correct the errors quickly when brought to their attention.

I believe this transaction still has the potential to be completed to my satisfaction within 60 days of my winning bid. If this is the case, then that is definitely a reasonable amount of time.

If I get what I bought, I can forgive the frustration and extra energy required to get things completed.

Nine days until vacation! I will definitely add Matt and selltimesharesdotorg to the list of sellers that I will buy from on eBay. Things happened but were completely rectified to my satisfaction. :hi:

Thumbs Up

Matt and David have worked with us on numerous satisfactory transactions. I think they may be a bit overwhelmed at times, so communication isn't perfect, but outcomes are what matters -- and in the end, these guys will stand behind their sales.
